George Soros says Tea Party being "used and deceived"..
He appeared on the Fareed Zakaria GPS program on CNN over the weekend.
=========================
Also, he says that Obama has lost control of the agenda. It is now in control by the GOP.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/20/george-soros-tea-party-ac_n_825674.html

<snip>
Asked to share his take on the coalition of conservative activists, Soros signaled his belief that "people in the Tea Party are very decent people, hard-working." He added, however, that supporters of the movement "have been hit by a force" from a place which "they can't fully understand." Here's what Soros went on to say:

And -- and they are being misled. And they are misled by people who are using it for their selfish purposes, namely to remove a -- regulations and -- and -- and reduce taxation. So reduce taxation and regulation. And they are being used and deceived.

<snip>
"President Obama has lost control of the agenda," he said. "The agenda is now in the hands of the Republican Party."

Soros predicted that Republicans will "pursue a very strong effort to cut services by refusing to have any tax increases." He suggested, however, that the spending slashing mission would be executed in a way "more directed at cutting services and achieving the ideological purposes" of the GOP than actually giving the economy a boost. Soros said, "I think this will have a negative effect on the economy."

1. He's just stating the obvious.
The rank and file tea party members are just so much dirt under the feet of the Republican elite. They'll pander to them while they serve a purpose, and then quickly throw them under the train.

2. That's always been the Republican way of the last 30 years or so...
To pursue political "solutions" that are really "'more directed at cutting services and achieving the ideological purposes' of the GOP than actually giving the economy a boost..." If they cared about the economy, it wouldn't tank every time they hold the reins of power.

Anyhow, their prime ideological purpose right now is to make Obama a one-termer. That's it. All the rest is smoke and mirrors (and much of that smoke is being gently blown up the teabaggers backsides).

4. You're welcome.
Who knows? A Tea Partier might read it?

5. And if they do?
They've been so brainwashed by Beck et al into believing that Soros is a one-man International Jewish Conspiracy that they will simply dismiss anything he says as an attempt to destroy America and turn it into a socialist muslin dictatorship.

6. Yeah, you are right...
It is too much to expect them to have an independent thought.

7. I'm glad he said it. But he'll be vilified for it.
Sometimes that is the price extracted for telling the truth.

I understand that Mr. Soros is a holocaust survivor who became successful despite having everything stacked against him. The average Repub/Teabagger sees him as Satan. Yet the 'self-made man' meme is a regular part of the right-wing media mantra.

Makes your head spin, doesn't it?

:crazy:

9. It only makes your head spin because you're looking for consistancy
Most RWers I know just want what they want, whether that's lower taxes, stronger churches(their's, of course), morality laws, more "defense" spending, etc. They don't concern themselves with the rest, because they trust their politicians to deal with everything else the way they trust corporations: blindly.

8. The teaparty is an illusionary movement
And it filled a vacuum caused by too many people on the Left who were afraid to speak out and take control of the message when the Doom Train of the Bush Admin kept rolling after 2008.

Even with the Koch Bros and all of the other corp support, they could barely get 500-1000 people at each rally.

Call them out on it whenever possible- these people are NOT the voice of normal America. It's the voice of money and think tanks.

10. Could it be they're hoping to be included in the Koch brothers' wills as a reward?
In any case, I think they just enjoy rolling in the mud.

11. He's right, of course.
If the real grassroots Tea Party people would just open their minds a bit, they'd see that they and the Progressives/Liberals have a common enemy -- the megacorporations that control our government. It really isn't rocket science.

12. And they would see that GWBush raised debt limit 7 times...
the last time in late September of 2008 to the amount of $11.4 trillion dollars. The info is not that hard to find.

Now the baggers will never believe it.
