Acadiana Win Gives GOP Control Of Louisiana Senate
ABBEVILLE -- Unofficial election returns in an election for a vacant state Senate seat in south Louisiana show Republican Jonathan Perry defeating Democrat Nathan Granger, possibly giving the Republic Party control of the Senate.

The GOP recently took control of the state House of Representatives after a number of party switches.

Republicans have not been the majority party in the Louisiana Senate since Reconstruction.

Perry received 52 percent of the vote to 48 percent for Granger in the Senate District 26 race, according to complete but unofficial returns.

Results will be official after voting machines are opened and results verified later this week.
