Her son committed suicide. He was an athlete and it was his first offense. Judge Ciavarella gave him an unusually harsh sentence after being caught with drug paraphernalia (no drugs).

My heart goes out to her. Hope she can now drain the Judge's bank accounts with a civil suit. Also hope the Judge gets more than 15 years in the slammer.

1. The judge was just making sure the kid didn't hurt himself.
Actually, I'm gonna guess the kid was black and the judge was white?

5. No both white - Judge was getting kick backs to send kids to jail.
You can't make this shit up. He was found guilty - now he should be charged with involuntary manslaughter for the kids suicide, imho.

Fuckers always find a way to make easy cash without giving a damn about whose life they ruin.

12. The guy did a poor interview - wouldn't let her say what she needed to say.
I have no idea the name of the CNN guy. He is the same guy who kept referring to Esperanza Spalding as a "he" after the Grammy Awards.

I hope Mrs. Fonzo is headed to NY to do the network shows Monday morning. This story needs to get out re: prisons for profit.

16. I can not imagine her pain.

She went there to see the perp walk instead he went home with his family, unlike the kids that came before his court.

I hope she finds a way to use her pain to work for the betterment of others and for her own healing.

13. just another benefit of privatization. prisons have become big business.
private prisons get paid by our tax dollars based on how many inmates they house. the more inmates, the more money to be made. this corrupt judge is just the tip of the iceberg, i think. so far, no one has proved that privatization of prisons has saved tax dollars . . . quite the contrary.

15. This story is about a corrupt Judge.
Hopefully it may lead to a closer evaluation of the justice system for juveniles.

And also the cost factor of private prisons as well.

in arizona and here in florida and probably other states too, have seen an increase in incarcerations. i doubt it's because crime is up since stats show a decrease of late. in addition to this judge, i bet the prison owners aren't the only ones making money from full prisons.
