OK, I will donate again. I have been here since 2002, but if you have only been here since 2011, it doesn't matter, or were here before me, it doesn't matter. DU gives us the opportunity to fight back against those who would take our nation from us. If you can't afford to donate, those of us who can should cover you.

We should not be short-sighted about what we care about - and those vehicles for expression we might lose. They brought their pillows in Wisconsin. Can you bring a few dollars to DU? And no, I have no other connection except to be older every year and more pissed off. We stand for something here. Stand up again.

2.  Bless you. My new next heart goes to you.
My daughter's name is Emily. She will be 35 this year. I am freaked about that, but grateful to you.

3. Needing an average of 143 a day to clear 1000, we're only 8 donations off the pace.
With paychecks coming in this weekend, I'm sure that pace will pick up in time.

5. Given what we face, it should be 2,000. I did follow up and donate again.
You get a heart for your post. Don't read more into that!

4. My check is actually in the mail. I do
not have a credit card. This is the first time in ages I could afford to donate.

6. Nicely said. K&R.
The pace of donations does seem a bit slow, although I've never seen us not make it to 1,000 donations by the end of a week's fund drive.

I'll think about donating again, too -- I ran out of hearts to give away days ago -- even though I made my biggest donation ever the first time around. I'd really like to see some other folks pick up the slack. Surely there are plenty of people who can at least afford to chip in 5 bucks.

DU has been my online home for almost 10 years now, I can't imagine my life without it.

Thank you for your "rally the masses" post!

9. Well stated. You get a heart, and would just for the name "scarletwoman"
Not a fantasy, I promise. But still . . .

12. LOL! Well, it *would* be a fantasy no matter what.
I'm a bit long in the tooth these days -- but 30-40 years ago, watch out! :D

BTW, I'm proud to tell you that your "You Rock" heart was from me. I've long admired your posts and your passion, and you were on my "heart" list the minute I donated.

17. Well, I'm no youngster either. But still . . .
I turn 60 this year. Whatever happened to my bell bottoms, flannel shirt and '65 VW Beetle? Not to mention the hair thing. Those were the days, my friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDVhB0jGP7I

18. Had I met you in those days I would have shared a doobie with you.
My bell bottoms are long gone, but my hair is still down to my waist. ;)

Btw, thanks for the "Be Mine" heart - it honestly gave me a thrill! :D

7. I wish they would give us an animated goal
Like a valentine covered punching glove to Walker's kisser.

Bet that would get the donations going!

Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 08:32 PM by TuxedoKat
so I could give out more hearts. Maybe more people did that this year too?

I will donate again though.

16. Can't afford more. This month I gave what I could here, ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center
and Russ' new Progressives United. That's it -- tapped out.
