1. I did, but I'm down on Pacifc Highway (SD) in a old building built on sand.
Pretty decent rocker for about 20 seconds - if you were sitting down. Most people didn't feel it if they standing or walking. However, Laz didn't feel it at all and he's sitting in his recliner only six miles away.
I started refreshing the EQ site when I felt it... and I have a plumb-bob crystal hanging by my desk that swings at the slightest provocation.
I'm on the 39th floor of a 60+ story building, so I feel every little breeze. EQ's that are close make me feel like I'm surfing... like the floor is rising up beneath me and then the wave pushes... really strange.
5.1 is substantial; we'll be feeling aftershocks today, no question.
4. We are over by Catalina in a gale, so felt nothing.
Being in a gale of this magnitude feels like an 8.0 that goes on for hours. The big difference is that I am in a vessel made to do exactly what it is doing right now and there is extremely low risk of anything bad happening.
5. Didn't we just have some monster waves out there?
I was going to drive by Huntington to see, but got busy yesterday. I can see Catalina from the shore on Huntington Beach when the winds blow the marine layer out... very cool. I wonder if we'll have a mile summer again. I kinda hope so as I don't deal with heat well, hence living near the coast. I blame Celtic genes for my inability to leave the area.
