So is Powell just naive or stupid??

He says he can't understand.. How could the pentagon and the CIA give soo much credence to Curveball's lies.. LOLOLOL Cause Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld TOLD them to.. They saw Curveball as the perfect tool to get the war they wanted before they were elected and Powell is either naive or stupid to not see that.. What ya all think?? I will go with neither.. He KNEW what was going on, but just did not want to make waves.. and went along like a good lap dog and his current shock and indignation is fake.. So sad I used to really admire that guy..

15. Anybody Who Read
more than USA Today at the time was at least introduced to the fact that some people who were in a position to know thought it was nonsense.

3. I read all about Curveball's lie when Powell was in office.
It was common knowledge, if you actually wanted to listen. Wes Clark talked about it all the time.

So Bush's Secretary of State coudn't put the clues together?

Perhaps Powell was in some secret undisclosed hiding place during this time and missed everything. :sarcasm: :eyes:

I agree with you. Powell didn't want to make waves.

10. Powell tries to redeem himself but he has so much blood
on his hands. He is basically the main reason the USA went to war in Iraq. He is lower than scum and everyone knows he lied to make the people support the Iraq war invasion.

11. Ya give Powell to much credit..
No way he could have stopped Bush and co from going to war.. HE knew that and just decided to go along to get along... Even if he quit his job and said he did not think we should have gone to war.. Bush, Cheney et al would have done it..

16. He Should Have Quit
Look, he's wasn't going to starve. Speaking fees alone could have ensured a comfortable retirement.

12. Playing dumb...
I remember watching his face when he presented what he CLEARLY knew to be bullshit information. He had that look like he hoped he wasn't going to get busted for lying. I remember it very, very well.

13. No, he's hoping we're naive or stupid
After Powell threw his media-generated and -anointed credibility behind the war effort, there was no stopping the Bush administration from committing its war crimes and crimes against humanity. Even the tepid voices counseling patience or a more gradual rush to war were muted after Powell's Prevaricating Power Point Presentation at the UN. The usual suspects among the media elites couldn't get in front of a camera or into print fast enough to extol the irrefutable irrefutableness of the Secretary.

Now, a lot of people want to unwind what they did, and rewrite the record of their complicity and active abetting of these atrocities. I can't say for sure, but the fact that there is no statute of limitations on war crimes could have something to do with it, and these aging warmongers might be feeling a little heat in the twilight of their lives. It seems that despite the characterization of the Constitution and our nation's treaty obligations as "quaint" relics of a bygone era, some people still regard the supreme law of the land as something to be not just honored but obeyed. Transgressions are serious incidents.
