Obama is waiting for the Republicans release their own ideas
for cuts without giving up much info. Then the Democratic party can run against all the stuff the Republicans want to cut. Like SS and medicare.

Obama is actually playing smart politics right now. I was just listen to some Republican on the radio ( sirius POTUS ) and he was crying that Obama wont come out and publicly support the cuts the Republican party is going to come out with and without his support he fears that Obama and the Dems are just waiting for them to release their bill with all their cuts so they can run against it in 2012. They are setting them up.

Thats what is going on. Obama releases a budget that looks to make the left and right mad. Like he is the grown up and is in the middle of the road. Waits for the Republican party to release a bill that no person would want all those cuts to popular programs like SS and medicare among a host of others. Then the President and the Democratic party jump all over it and point out to the American people what the Republicans really stand for and how it will effect them.

See before the last election Republicans never really said what they stood for. They only complained about the other party. They were just the party of no. But never gave any real ideas. Now the President and the Democratic party are forcing them to actually stand up and say what they want to do.

Once that happens the American people will realize that they dont want cuts to popular programs. The Republican party is scared right now because they know they have to release their own ideas.

Its actually pretty smart politics by Obama and the Democratic party if you think about it.

Kind of like taking a step back to go 3 steps forward. If you think Obama can get reelected and Dems win back the house in 2012.

1. After the Repubs present thei budget ideas, Obama will cut funding for their heating

There are plenty of "grown ups" on the Left who see pretty clearly what's going on here.

6. Yeah he's waiting alright.

Then they cave in and give them everything they want.

Smart politics indeed. It's the old "Let the Wookie win" strategy.

7. Doesn't really matter. If they don't get everything their way, they plan
to shut down the government. We should counter by shutting down corporate infrastructure. If they want a stand off, the people should meet it.

8. That's why you saw the GOP leaders stuttering like fools when asked
questions about how they plan to cut Social Security and Medicare.

By proposing a few cuts that he knew many on the left will hate, he knew he'd get a loud scream there. And of course the GOP was going to scream no matter what he proposed, that was a given.

Now the GOP has to come up with a "better" proposal. And the reality is that they can't. There is no way that they can craft a budget that meets the demands of their insane base, AND which also does not impact that base, and the rest of the population in very painful ways.

I suspect that we are heading for a government shutdown, with the GOP hoping to pin it on Obama. Didn't work when Clinton was President, won't work now. But, it would divert attention away from the fact that they have ZERO plans for how to do anything.

The GOP does not intend to govern.
