Considering we are a "Christian country," we do have a lot of them -- and far more than are reported.

The insensitivity, the utter brutality of the right never ceases to amaze me. What a cruel thing to say.

The Egyptian protestors were very proud of the fact that, although the crowds on Revolutions Square were mixed men and women, there were no reports of sexual harassment. Once Mubarak was ousted and the protestors no longer checked who was coming in and going out of the square during the celebration, it can be assumed that pro-Mubarak forces got in and assaulted her. But sexual assault is quite common in our country. Ms. Schlussel, it seems to me, should not revel in the misfortune of another woman lest it happen to her. And it can happen to any woman at any age unfortunately.

It isn't just Muslims who have a problem with rape although they have less experience with the free mixing of the sexes in society than we do. Mind you, there was a time when many schools were single gender even here in the US. In fact, to this day there are such schools.
