I suspect our leaders would prefer the Muslim Brotherhood to real democracy
Mohammed el Baradei, for example, seems to be someone everyone wants to marginalize. All I hear about him is how he doesn't really represent the protesters. This is coming from American officials speaking from D.C.

And omg, el Baradei has had talks with the Muslim Brotherhood! Unacceptable! But now our man Suleiman is engaged in talks with the Muslim Brotherhood and no one seems to be upset about that.

1. Our Leaders want a strongman of somesort who will play ball and not menace Israel
The Muslim Brotherhood doesn't fit those criteria. Even if they agreed to the first, they can't agree to the second can they?

More to the point, the amount of fear mongering about the Muslim Brotherhood makes it unlikely that we could stomach such a solution.

2. Don't make the mistake of equating "democracy" with freedom.
I'd love to see the people of Egypt treated fairly and equally, but democracy may not work to accomplish that. Democracy can be a very dangerous form of government. Even our bastardized version of it is dangerous, but at least we had a lot of checks and balances put in from the beginning. If we were a real democracy, with the people choosing the important issues, women and black people would still be nearly completely powerless and gay would still be a crime.

3. Do you have photos of the millions of protesters who want him to be there leader?
The reality is that the uprising has no leaders, but disparate groups who may or may not want the same things, are now trying to cash in on it to get what their specific group wants.

Like it or not, el Baradei is not part of the Eqyptian government, and so I'm not sure what his discussions with the MB would lead to.

And then ... your claim that Suleiman is in talks with the MB is misleading because it suggests that no others are involved, which is false.

And you make the very weak claim that "out leaders" would "prefer the MB to a real democracy" ... bottom line ... epic fail all around.
