There is speculation that Meg Whitman may run for US Senate
California Republican Meg Whitman's failed $150 million-plus drive to become California governor is barely in the rear view mirror -- but her appearance in San Francisco today, the first public gig since the 2010 election, has sparked buzz that she's thinking about a political comeback.

It started when the former eBay CEO scheduled -- not one, but two -- speaking engagements this month, less than 12 weeks from her November election rout by Democrat Jerry Brown.

Whitman will make her debut today at the Harvard Club of San Francisco in a 1 p.m. talk. And like her slated January 31 appearance in San Francisco before the Bay Area Council, which Comrade Joe Garofoli revealed this week, there will be no press coverage allowed -- and an invitation-only crowd. (And just to make sure, the Bay Area Council event has even been removed from the organization's website.)

1. she came so close to winning the Governor's Race, if she had spent just a little more
maybe she could have won.

it was close wasn't it ? all that money didn't go for nothing did it ?

4. I trust you're kidding...
I don't remember the percentages, but she was wiped out, IIRC.

Oh, the money didn't go for nothing...

She spent it on a lot of advertising, signage, banners and the like.

Too bad she didn't spend it on education, or funding some free clinics, or some such instead...

2. I was seriously hoping we saw the end of her in November.
I honestly cannot remember a more negative campaign than the one Meg Whitman ran. It was seriously nauseating.

8. The money she spent on her failed gov bid was pocket change
I think she's in the billions as far as net worth goes.

I'd pay just to never hear another one of her commercials.

5. She may be running...I don't think she has a snowball's chance in hell.
She would be awful as Senator.

6. Just go away Witless ... Jerry wiped the floor with
your big head and if you're planning on running against DiFi she'll do the same to you. Some people just keep coming back again and again for another beating, she must have enjoyed it. :spank:

7. Shes unelectable in california
If she couldn't take out Jerry brown in 2010 after spending $170 million she cant win statewide office in this state. It is only going to get harder for "any" republican to get elected statewide in California as demographic changes continue to take place, and anyone starting a race with approval numbers like Meg's is starting at an insurmountable disadvantage.

9. California could probably use another $180 million dumped in their economy.

10. If she keeps running and losing, maybe she'll run out
of money and go away. Doesn't she get it that people don't like her?

11. Ingratiating herself with the press early by excluding them.
She kicked off her failed run for Governor with a press access thing at Union Pacific HQ here in Oakland and wouldn't talk to the reporters. She continued to exclude the press as much as possible from her "events. They loved her for it. Even a Republican party tool like Carla Marriucci from the Chron couldn't support Meg.
Good to see Meg didn't learn anything from her mistakes. Typical moronic MBA toting executive class drone.
