The id based brilliance of Tracy Morgan
I have never been a fan of Tracy Morgan. Too much id. Too much angst. He's not a bad guy...just wearing.

So when he commented on Sarah Palin (youtube) as a masturbatory aid, I just took it as Tracy being Tracy.

But he persisted, and has most recently deemed her the best MILF ever.

At first I considered that he had found a hook that worked, something to get him the attention he so obviously craves. Then I had an epiphany.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought, my God... the genius of that! The genius!

He's created a kind of positive punishment to induce a sense of revulsion in the Tea Baggers toward their goddess.

Sexual attraction is primal. So are anger, fear and revulsion. They work at an id level. (Yes, we're going with Freud here because it's an easy shorthand.) And because those impulses are so primal, they are quite malleable. You can link fear and any object you choose to create a deep phobia with very little effort.

The same goes for revulsion. It's a little more complicated with sex because, strictly speaking, sex is low on the list of things absolutely necessary for individual survival. But when you link a low status impulse like sexual attraction to a specific person with a relatively low status impulse like revulsion you can easily create an effective cut off switch for those desires.

Here's how it might work:

Teabagger loves Sarah.
Teabagger is racist.
Teabagger has feelings of: hate/revulsion/fear toward black people who do not know "their place", aka: High Status Black Person.
Teabagger is confronted with the idea of love object Palin being "sullied" by h/r/f object High Status Black Man.
Teabagger becomes angered/revulsion/fearful and links those primal feelings with the image and feelings toward the love object Palin.
From this point on, whenever the love object Palin comes to mind so does the thought of her being "sullied" by the h/r/f object High Status Black Man.

Of course they can't or won't admit that they find the idea repulsive, and that repression only serves to strengthen the idea. You only have to look to the examples of some conservatives who have been discovered secretly acting out their repressed feelings with hookers, in bathroom stalls and by other means, to see how this manifests in real life.

If this "theory" is correct, we may find that the teabaggers will soon look for reasons to abandon Ms. Palin to her own devices.

9. No, his comments aren't about race. The response the Teabaggers may have is.
It's a theory. It has nothing to do with reality, his thinking or race.

People with certain attitudes react to stupid things in stupid ways: Birthers for instance.

They claim it's about the Constitution. Is that what you REALLY think it's about?

5. I was ready to write-off your post as meaningless psychobabble until I read it....
I think you might be on to something.

I'm not sure Morgan is doing this with such intent in mind, though. I think he's just doing it to be outrageous.

Britney's Manager: Britney! Where are you going? We've gotta, We've gotta plane to catch!

Britney: I'll be back, I'm just gonna go down in the sewer.

Britney's Manager: The sewer?! Britney no! (Woodrow and Britney climb down manhole) What are you doing?

Fan #3: You guys! Britney is heading down into the sewer with a crazy homeless man!

Fan #1: That's big news!

Fan #3: Britney!

Britney's Manager: Somebody stop her! Someone call the police!

Fan #4: Let's all go down in the sewer!(Fans cheer)

Britney's Manager: No, no, no, no...It's too dangerous.

(Britney and Woodrow are shown in sewer)

Woodrow: Well, this is it. This is where I live.

Britney: It's not so bad...I like the mailbox!

Woodrow: Oh I stole that 'cause it had secrets about me.

Britney: You know what? Sometimes I'd like to steal a mailbox.

Woodrow: Oh you're just sayin' that.

Britney: I know.

Woodrow: Say Britney, I was wondering...

Britney: What?

Woodrow: Well your always singing for everyone else and I wrote this, this song and I thought...

Britney: Aw that's so sweet...Yes, please I'd love to hear it.

Woodrow: I got it right here. I mean it's no "Oops I Did It Again" but...

Britney: Just sing it!

Woodrow: (singing)
Little TV sets, goin' off inside my ear
Spaceman floating by
Firecracker beer
Chased a demon's lightning
Music hits your eye
Up and down the sidewalk
Take a Doo Doo Pie
I Love You

6. I've heard him doing the "Palin is masturbatory material" as far back as November....
on the Howard Stern show. Didn't seem to make any news back then.

I doubt he is thinking this thing through as much as you are. Really I think he's just a dude trying to gross us out. I'm 99% sure he doesn't find her attractive at all.

11. I doubt he's thinking it through at all. The ID is strong in that one.
But it's an interesting exercise.
