Unrest continued in Tunisia, where the ousting of president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali three weeks ago sparked the current wave of protests in the Middle East.
Police stormed a protest camp today to disperse demonstrators who had held a round-the-clock sit-in for five days demanding the resignation of the interim government. According to witnesses, protesters threw stones at the police, who responded by firing teargas.
A cabinet reshuffle announced yesterday – in which ministers loyal to Ben Ali were dropped – received a mixed response from protesters, many of whom object to the continued presence of the prime minister in the government.
