Why the right wing's assault on public employees needs to thwarted at every turn
Our country is dealing with unemployment, and at the same time our infrastructure continues to crumble.

A solution to this would be to create work relief programs, something like the Civilian Conservation Corps.

This solution wouldn't be far-fetched, as our country did have these programs in the past, and there was also legislation to create a guaranteed work program that quietly died in 2000.

But these programs wouldn't even have a chance of coming to life as long as we see public employees themselves being attacked on TV, as long as we've got "investigative journalists" like James O'Keefe cutting and pasting videos to smear them with, and as long as we've got chain emails referring to them as "parasites"; now do they?

The right wing may want to pit public employee against private employee as a way to divide and conquer, but they may end up destroying the infrastructure that keeps our country safe and prosperous. We can not let that happen.

1. The whole point of the attack on public sector workers is to KILL the labor movement
It has nothing to do with anything else.

If they break the public sector unions, there will BE no chance of the labor movement recovering in this country.

And there are no working people anywhere in this country who have anything to gain from other workers being forced to accept wage cuts, benefit cuts and layoffs.

4. I just came from the DMV
Hundreds of people lined up for what used to be a 30 - 40 min. trip to renew my license.

This is the result of deep cuts in public servants who are needed to make all our lives work. When I see or hear of everyday people egging this crap on, it makes my brain hurt.

Americans won't be satisfied until we are completely a third world country where graft and corruption are the only options. :evilfrown:
