1. Been a registered voter for decades...
Net recommendation: 0 votes (Your vote: +1)

and I've trudged probably hundreds of miles trying to make sure that everyone else was also prepared and legally registered to vote. Ferried folk back and forth to court hearings, seeing to it that their citizen rights were restored, just so that they would be able to participate in national elections. Turned my car into the voting vehicle on election day, providing transport for those who otherwise couldn't have punched a ballot.

No more.

OCCUPY!

2. I'm going to vote straight D, for sure.
Edited on Mon Dec-26-11 04:54 PM by Zorra
Mostly as votes against republicans.

In 2004 and 2007 I rounded up a bunch of ex-pats down in Mexico and got them registered to vote (only if I knew they would vote D). Some handicapped folks in the US also, some that I brought to the polls so they could vote

Not working at it this year, but I'm donating to several progressive causes and progressive Democratic candidates.

(The OP here is actually kind of a satirical, but hopefully meaningful wordplay copy of an OP in GD3)

I needed some more unrecs from the unreccing crew; I'm going for the DU record for unrecs (before DU2 ascends to cyberheaven), which is actually quite a prestigious and coveted honor for traditional Democrats. There's some serious competition among progressives for this mark, but I'm pretty sure this post will put me over the top.
:D

4. In almost forty-five yr of being a registered voter...
Edited on Mon Dec-26-11 06:08 PM by countryjake
only once did I go against my grain...as a waitress, the owner of the place I slaved was running for some petty office...he happened to be a Grade A asshole, who, unfortunately, was also running on the Democratic ticket. That was the one and only time I have ever placed a mark next to the R on a ballot.

There were other times that I've refrained from exercising my right to vote, within the span of all of those years, as uninformed voting or a "clothespin vote" do nothing whatsoever, to move this nation forward. But I've worn my "I Voted" sticker proudly and I've spent endless hours supporting my local Dems, working against all odds to try and turn a red county blue.

I see that blueness rising again this year, but it is only within Occupy that it's even visible.

(edited to add)

I've not done much reading over in GD3; I only went over there yesterday, at the direction of Sapphocrat and then DB, to check on one amazingly offensive conflagration and one gun battle. May step over there again after supper, to see the one that inspired you. I am registered and almost logged in after reading Sapph's suggestion, but evidently Skinner took the needed action, posthaste, on that one. But there is still much clean-up needed, in my humble opinion. Being set upon by a bunch of loudmouths for expressing age-old democratic values is no party.

11. Voting straight D is no assurance of voting against republicans.
I've voted straight ticked for over thirty years. Been the "election bus" many times. Was such in 2008. Look what it wrought.

I'm tired of choosing between republican and republican lite, between batshit crazy and reagan democrats.

3. My +1 didn't register.
I plan to vote. Not that it changes anything, except for the worse. I really regret voting for Obama.

5. I'll vote for those who deserve to be back in office
like my former congressman Grayson. I sure as hell won't vote for Obama-I'll probably write in Sanders/ Warren instead. I'm done with voting for the lesser of evils. That just gets us more of the same.

9. MY gut tells me....Rocky's
a good guy. He's VERY Progressive/Liberal. He LOVES protecting our environment. He was known as the "Greenest" Mayor. He's Pro-Choice and actually sat on the board of Planned Parenthood of Utah. He's a HUGE supporter of GLBT rights. I'm still waiting for him to get his web site up. I want to study this guy. I loved him before when he was the ONLY politician, at the time of the anti-war protests, who had the balls to stand up and speak truth to power AGAINST THE WAR. That was HUGE. I like him a LOT. He's got a very Progressive background. BO never did have that. All BO had was good speeches and a great smile. :(

10. That sounds good.
Now, if Rocky would take on the entrenched interests of the Wall Street criminals, the serial polluters, war profiteers and medicare fraudsters. Just to name a few. I want to vote for someone that will get it done. Not to suggest that it would be an easy task.
