Or maybe it's got something to do with ruby slippers. Whatever, the lights are still on for an indefinite period--and could be turned off in the next thirty seconds. So a handful of us are enjoying DU the way it used to be, all those years ago.

before the shit hit the fan, did suggest to skinner that it would be a good point just to walk the year out. instead of just shutting it off on some random date. ie 12/31/2011 11:59pm it shuts off at midnight. course then the jury hit the fan, but haven't given up on DU3 yet. More like waiting for Service Pack 1 :P gonna be awfully lonely over christmas if he shuts this off then...

10. I'm not thrilled with the visual change and am using that to break me of my DU habit.

Before I came to draw attention to what occurred in OH in '04 I was much more active. I need to step away from the computer or as Stephen Malkmus said "revelling in the disconnect".

15. We didn't leave...except to go over there and check out...some of us

came back here for "safety." The Layout bothered some of our "eyes" and no matter what we asked they kept saying that the "colors" and "format" were the same as "old DU."

But, the second thing was what some of us felt were "authoritarian rules" to be able to post on the site which we felt were offensive to our "civil liberties" (since the site claims to be "Democratic Underground" and not "Freeper Underground."

But, most important to me...is that the site lacks the "human quality" and the "hum" that the Original DU sites had. It's cold and just seems to be a "Message Board" designed for one thing: "Obama for Re-Election in 2012.

So...that's why some of us here are "Occupying DU-2" and not over there.

I'll be here until the lights go out.

It was such a friendly & homey place early on....DU3...just not my thing. I most likely will be gone from DU when the lights go off.


Before that happens I just want to say to all the dear friends I've made over the years...thank you. Thanks for sharing your ideas and letting me share mine. It's been great fun & a great learning experience!!! I'm sure I'll see you around.;)

I will miss a lot of you guys...but this place hasn't been the same for a loooong time and DU3 is nothing like this place was in the early years. I was here since day one and it truly was underground rather than an echo chamber. I'm only here cause of the people.



Left/right politics is nothing but a big distraction...it's really only about the 1% vs the 99%....unfortunately most of the 99% are still figuring that out.When they do & more & more OWS spring up, maybe then we have a shot at changing things. I just hope it happens very soon.

us older folks.

Plus I miss some posters and am slow to adjust.

28. I Can't get on DU 3 Or My Password

When I send for my password, it says it is sent, but I don't get any e-mail. I am supposed to make sure itisn't blocked. Don't know how to do that, and I don't want to take off my filters, etc. DOESN't seem like a good idea to me. it's way to complicated for me, so if/ when DU 2 is done, that'll probably be it for me.

and explain your situation to one of them. You probably have an outdated email addy registered on your account here.

And be sure to use real email, not the PM system here...the administrators "have left the building" here at old DU.

29. Nadin, it is the transistion period I think, The mods are giving us

a grace period to high tail it over to DU3. I have been on DU3, seems fine to me! Once you select classic view it is no different. My only apprenhension is the jury system but that too may work out ok!
