FAA Administrator Randy Babbit resigns after DUI

1. I like to see administrators and managers held to the same standard as the rank-and-file.

2. Maybe not.

While drunk driving is never justifiable, Babbitt was a better than average FAA administrator and a former pilots' union leader (instead of an industry stooge like most Bush appointees). I hope his replacement is as capable as he was.

3. The FAA head cannot punish pilots or air traffic

controllers for flying drunk or falling asleep on the job when he has drinking problems.

Sorry he had to go.

4. I don't disagree. I just think it's too bad that a guy who was otherwise

a competent administrator had to fuck it all up by getting a DUI. Of course he should be held to the same standards as the people under the jurisdiction of his agency.

Actually, I don't think anybody ought to drink and drive, ever, no matter who they are.
