drug prosecutor is caught buying crack cocaine
After prosecuting Paris Hilton, Vegas man faces drug charges

As a Las Vegas prosecutor, David Schubert handled headline-making drug cases against Paris Hilton and singer Bruno Mars. Then Schubert himself was arrested on suspicion of buying crack cocaine.

Every development since has been nothing short of surprising.

In March, police pulled over Schubert after witnessing what they believed to be a drug deal. When they searched Schubert’s BMW, they found 0.01 grams of cocaine, an unlicensed 9-mm semiautomatic handgun and nearly 100 rounds of ammunition, the Associated Press said.

The alleged dealer said Schubert, who’d identified himself as “Joe,” had bought $40 worth of cocaine at least twice a week for several months, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

During that time, Schubert had prosecuted Hilton, who pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors after police found 0.8 grams of cocaine in her purse, and Mars, who admitted having 2.6 grams of cocaine at the Hard Rock hotel. Both socialite and singer were sentenced to probation.

1. What's he gonna say? "I was doing research?" "It was part of a sting, only
I forgot to tell anyone about it?"

Hypocrisy! Stunning hypocrisy!

2. 10 milligrams of coke?
I'd imagine that you could find that much in a few assorted bills. I'd be far more concerned with the weapons.

3. that's a ridiculously small amount
how can you even see .01 g?

And since they are talking about his busts of Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars, let's do the math. This guy had 1/80th of what Paris had, and 1/260th of what Mars had.

4. 10 milligrams is about half the size of a match head.
So I'd imagine it would be kinda visible. The question is how did they acquire it? I'd think that that amount is so small that it would be really hard obtaining a conviction from it.

5. And yet he pleaded guilty, I wonder if the other charges dropped were in relation to the gun?

After his arrest, Schubert resigned from the district attorney’s office and cut a deal with state prosecutors: He pleaded guilty to one count of cocaine possession, and three other charges were dropped.
