Five years ago - five fucking years ago - Louise Slaughter introduced the Stock Bill. In five eyars it got less than ten cosponsors.

Along comes 60 Minutes doing an exposé of the practices the bill was intended to curtail and BAM - more than a hundred more sponsors in just a few weeks. And a very bipartisan list it is.

What took you guys so long?

5. I'm tickled that it has so many co-sponsors

It is a great bill, as I understand it. I am glad it has traction, even if it did take a little sunlight to get the house ready for some cleaning. However...

I also wonder how warped and toothless that bill will be once riders and changes to the bill's language are put in place. It is a great idea Rep. Slaughter et al have, but color me cynical in saying I have little confidence anything meaningful will be made law.
