Poll: 6 in 10 indifferent about Occupy movement
Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 05:37 AM by EV_Ares
Maybe i am too cynical but I think this article as most articles & media coverage of the Occupy movement which is never that much of a favorable coverage is part of the corporate world to do whatever they can to discredit this movement. They fear this movement that it could get even larger or even the far out possibility of some sort of a merger with tea partiers who really do want change in our government & not part of the Koch group.

Article:

Two months after the Occupy Wall Street movement spread to dozens of cities and colleges, six in 10 Americans still don't know enough about its goals to decide if they are for or against it.

1. That's probably the same number of people who passively watch TV news
Really, finding out what OWS's goals are isn't that difficult, but you're not going to hear about them on most TV network news programs.

2. Remove the 3 in ten who are just incurably stupid (creationists, etc) and we're doing pretty good
Somewhere between ten and thirty percent will never, ever be convinced. They will die denying. Oppositional defiant disorder, only moderately socialized.

Now ask them who they want to win Dancing With The Stars.

7. We created a committee which should help with that here :)
We are calling it the "Framing Committee" and will be putting words to OWS ideas and goals and reframing negative rhetoric commonly heard on M$M. Many here would call it bumper sticker slogans.

Holding another GA Saturday and we'll be refining this idea.

8. So that means that 40% DO know enough about their goals.
Excellent. As times goes on, that number will go up.

9. Yes it should. Especially as word of mouth travels from the lips of families and friends.
Among groups of people in general.

We can only expand from here on out.

12. Only 2 months in, and 4 in ten have arisen from their comas, much better results than I thought
If in two more months the numbers can go to 6 out of 10, even better.

14. I don't know if that matters
I mean how many colonists were fighting for rights? You had activists, loyalists, and those who were neutral.

17. Oh, okay. Canging the entire dialogue doesn't matter. Oh well, those OWSers tried.
Its been two solid months, might as well give up.

In case you aren't aware, the number of 'radical' colonists were really about 15%. Dedicated minority.
Loyalty to the crown is a problem, but when things get worse, and they will, the stupid will wake.

18. yes, its more than the total amount who voted in the last election
In the last election cycle less than 38% voted... all parties combined.

16. If the movement was able to express it's goals MAYBE they'd see it in a different light
But OWS seems to think random mike checks and uncoordinated cardboard signs are the best way of expressing what is wrong with this country.
