Report: 37 Percent of Children in Dallas Live in Poverty
Shaun Rabb FOX 4 News

DALLAS - The annual report on the health and quality of life of Dallas County's children is out and there are some things to be concerned about.

The report titled "Beyond ABC: Assessing Children's Health in Dallas County" states 18 percent of all children in the county are uninsured. That’s more than twice the national average....

“There are 192,500 children that live in poverty today. That’s enough to fill up Cowboys Stadium twice. If we hone in on Dallas the city, 37 percent of our children live in poverty,” said Christopher Durovich, president of Children’s Medical Center.

Some experts who were part of a panel discussion moderated by FOX 4’s Clarice Tinsley warned the well-being of children should be Dallas County’s number one priority.

3. sorry people, but many people in the world are cold hearted bastards. I've heard it said so many
times that "most people are good and decent". I don't believe that's the case. I believe that there are a large percent of both types. Both good and bad. When I read comments about the homeless, or those in poverty online at newspaper sites or yahoo/aol etc, it is filled with tons of hatred about how lazy people are, and how if people aren't willing to work, then they should be left to die, etc.

Simply put - there's a large minority of "GOP" somewhere in the 40-45% range that cheer on when a extremist candidate for president says horrible things at these debates, what more does anyone need to know that people are not mostly good? They look out for their own with compassion, most of the time, yes, but the hateful types don't give a damned about those in need. Anyone who remembers my OP from years ago about having the rich lady in the Mercedes SUV calling the cops on me for helping the poor homeless lady who had leg sores, and her saying, "you just encourage them by doing that", should tell us that there's a lot of people who don't care about these poor kids. Many would strip the social safety net of this country away just to save tax money for themselves, and allow millions to become homeless! As I age, I realize how millions of Germans fell prey to Hitler's wicked message.

Get it now, or one of a million other designs! http://www.zazzle.com/republicans_2012_keeping_millions_out_of_work_bumper_sticker-128659602907896843?rf=238107662556833486

4. The awful thing really is that those who vote GOP really think they have "money" - Or they will go
Edited on Tue Nov-15-11 07:23 PM by 1776Forever
to heaven if they vote for the GOPer but what isn't in their comprehension is that these same GOP money driven BS'ers are laughing at these weak people. They are to be pitied! They are "eating" their own!

5. yep, they are to be pitied. my friend in northern OH says all the time that a lot of GOPers believe
that they are rich or will be if they vote GOP. That's why many Cuban-Americans in Southern Florida, according to one of my Latino friends (and the voting facts), vote Republican. They are sheeple who think they can attain the same as the super rich, and the powers that be in the GOP laugh at them while they collect their donations. Like Newt Frigging Gingrich or Herman Pizzaman Cain is gonna become president! Newt openly said he cheated on his wife because he loved his country so much - what a commercial that would make, and whereas Newt has would be formidable if not for his BS answers like that one, Cain is just dumb and Obama would obliterate him (or Perry for that matter) in a debate. Romney is most likely their candidate.

Get ready for plenty of Mitt!

7. Then they will just have to take turns
Assign them in pairs to the seats and then work out a schedule.

8. My partner teaches in DISD. 99% of his kids are
below the poverty level.100% are free lunch-eligeable.

And yet, with the right support, these kids have performed well on "standardized" tests...despite being from less-than-standardized homes.

Nonetheless,DISD thinks it is in the best interests of these kids to cut back on teaching staff and supplies.

So much for "Child Friendly" Texas.
