Ever since that horrible fall day in 2001 when a group of radical Muslims flew planes into the World Trade Center, Americans changed the way they lived their lives. When the smoke cleared, the rage and anger towards anyone practicing the Muslim faith was at an all-time high and the Republican party used that as part of their continued fear agenda that they still use today. On Veterans day, a Republican state congressman from Tennessee, Rick Womick, made comments to Think Progress that many find disgusting.
Rick Womick: “Personally, I don’t trust one Muslim in our military because they’re commanded to lie to us through the term called Taqiyya....and if they truly are a devout Muslim, and follow the Quran and the Sunnah, then I feel threatened because they’re commanded to kill me.” Though Womick is a state representative, the message is a national one. The fear that the Republican party injects into our country on a daily basis can't go without mention. Whether it's false claims about the birthplace of President Obama or the lies about Muslims in general, the GOP uses the natural emotion of fear to dictate their own political agenda. While the Republican party uses buzzwords of fear like "Muslim", "Socialist" or "Communist", the real fear that Americans should worry about are the Republican policies that reward a select few, punish the majority and bring America to its knees.
