I have a question about Gov. Tom Corbett and the Sandusky investigation
I was reading the local Harrisburg paper yesterday and Corbett talks about the investigation. Corbett was the Attorney General of Pennsylvania before becoming governor.

But the impression I got was that when he decided to run for governor that he put the investigation on hold.

Really?

I'm trying to find links, if anyone has one. But I seriously hope he didn't delay this investigation just so he could be governor. If he did someone should be investigating him. I mean we had our sex abuse case here in Delaware and AG Beau Biden turned down running for US Senate so he could finish the case.

Thoughts?

1. I saw a press conference with him.
That was not my impression. He just could not speak about the investigation until it was complete. In fact, he seemed very irritated with the Penn State administration's lack of concern for the matter.

2. And that was something I read

But did he STOP the investigation so that he could campagin. That's what I'm curious about.

I understand if the guy wants to run for governor. He should have then turned the case over to someone else in the AG department.

3. Divernan had a good post in the PA Forum:

Around the country, everyone wants to know: if Athletic Director Tim Curley and Vice President Gary Schultz are charged for failure to report a crime, why aren't Paterno and Spanier?

Welcome to Pennsylvania, and Tom Corbett's Office of Attorney General.

Paterno and Spanier aren't charged for the same reason Speaker Sam Smith wasn't charged in "Computergate." The same reason LeRoy S. Zimmerman wasn't charged in the Hershey Trust scandals. The list goes on.

The reason is that Tom Corbett's OAG simply doesn't charge the truly powerful and influential. (Until and unless he absolutely has to in order to protect his political career)

Joe Paterno, millionaire, friend of George H.W. Bush and father of Republican congressional candidate Scott Paterno - does anyone really think Corbett's OAG in a million years was going to charge that guy?

4. Notice how he's using this opportunity to get national exposure?
It would be nice if the media would bring up certain relevant points as you do. Perhaps he'd crawl back into his hole.

5. I'm looking at this timeline

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/09/penn-state-scandal-timeline-jerry-sandusky_n_1084204.html?ref=mostpopular

Early 2009 – An investigation by the Pennsylvania attorney general begins when a Clinton County, Pa. teen boy tells authorities that Sandusky has inappropriately touched him several times over a four-year period.

September 2010 – Sandusky retires from day-to-day involvement with The Second Mile, saying he wants to spend more time with family and handle personal matters.

Nov. 5, 2011 – Sandusky is arrested and released on $100,000 bail after being arraigned on 40 criminal counts

I understand Corbett has to do his job but that's a long timeline from when Sandusky was first investigated until he was finally arrested. Did Corbett keep the case during the campaign or did he turn it over to someone else in the AG so there would be follow-thru.

And here's something else. Since the Governor of Pennsylvania automatically becomes a member of the PSU Board of Trustees, that means that Corbett sat on the BoT at PSU for 11 months which means someone at the BoT was aware of what Sandusky was doing.
