5 Reasons Progressives Should Treat Ron Paul with Extreme Caution
He's anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-black, anti-senior-citizen, anti-equality and anti-education, and that's just the start.

4. Is it in the Constitution...
or at least in the Articles of Confederation since Ron Paul seems to think it's the Constitution?

6. What? How dare you! Ron Paul is the only honest politician in Washington!
You know, like when he says if you get sick and don't have any money, the Church will take care of you.

Oh, wait, that's bullshit.

7. No real Progressive would ever support that twit.
Anyone worth their salt would take a second to look into him and see he's a horrific ass. He's a Libertarian turned Republican. Which is like pouring rich milk chocolate over a delicious caramel and nut filling to a lot of Texans. Which is why he's been a politician here for so long.

I keep hoping he'll do like his followers keep asking and run as either and Indy or a Libertarian, but he won't. He knows on which side his bread is buttered and he's not stupid enough to give up his easy life for a bunch of idealistic hooey that won't keep him in his current lifestyle.

9.  On Ron Paul
Sometimes one's views on the issues can be so whacked that he ends up being right on one or two issues by accidental chance.

10. He's very anti-choice - how does that fit in with being libertarian?
People are always saying he wants to legalize drugs, end the wars, etc

He also wants to force his religious views on everyone else via anti-choice.

And he wants to end public schools and all public services.

Really, how can you say "get gov't out of peoples lives" and "women can't make their own reproductive choices" in the same breath?

He's really, really horrible.

13. His "anti-war stance comes not from a cry for peace, but from the isolationism of the far right."
From the OP:

There are few things as maddening in a maddening political season as the warm and fuzzy feelings some progressives evince for Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, the Republican presidential candidate. "The anti-war Republican," people say, as if that's good enough.

But Ron Paul is much, much more than that. He's the anti-Civil-Rights-Act Republican. He's an anti-reproductive-rights Republican. He's a gay-demonizing Republican. He's an anti-public education Republican and an anti-Social Security Republican. He's the John Birch Society's favorite congressman. And he's a booster of the Constitution Party, which has a Christian Reconstructionist platform. So, if you're a member of the anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-black, anti-senior-citizen, anti-equality, anti-education, pro-communist-witch-hunt wing of the progressive movement, I can see how he'd be your guy.

Ron Paul's anti-war stance, you see, comes not from a cry for peace, but from the deeply held isolationism of the far right. Some may say that, when it comes to ending the slaughter of innocents, the ends justify the means. But, in the case of Ron Paul, the ends involve trading the rights and security of a great many Americans for the promise of non-intervention.

He ain't what he seems. I hope posting my old posts will work. He's a lying Republican like the rest, I don't buy a single thing this guy says. Why the media doesn't get after him is beyond me. If I can find this stuff...they can too. How does he get appointed to a "shadow cabinet" in 77 after winning a special election, being in office for a few months...and losing the next election? And if he likes the Constitution so much, do you think he'd realize we don't have a parliamentary government? And, even in parliamentary systems, those are ELECTED, not self-annointed officials. Someone was behind him and my guess that someone was David Koch. Koch was a big Ron Paul donor in the early days. He's got ties to Abramoff's associates and lots of ties to the Contra scandal.

16. Ron Paul is NOT the defender of the US Constitution
Edited on Sat Nov-12-11 12:34 PM by Galraedia
as he'd like his cult-like followers to believe. He is running on rhetorical Constitutional notions, but Paul still wants to scrub the Constitution of anything that doesn't fit his libertarian manifesto. Ron Paul is running to reinstall the Articles of Confederation, and dumping any progress made in the 20th century.

21. My personal opinion: He would be the worst president ever. EVER.
Ron Paul is literally the only thing that could make me excited about voting for the president again. If Ron Paul stands a serious chance of winding up in the White House, even my extreme dislike for Barack Obama will have me out in the streets canvassing for him (no shit.)

Ron Paul is evil.

conclusion: y'all could maybe stick a fork in him, but I'm purdy shore he's done

23. Along with Ron Paul Supporters! Occupy Denver named a Ron Paul supporter's DOG as their leader last
weekend. WTF is: First of all, a Ron Paul supporter doing at Occupy Denver? Second of all, Why the hell would Occupy Denver name a Ron Paul supporter's dog their leader? Thirdly, why the hell do they have ANYTHING to do with a Ron Paul supporter?!!!!!

Call me crazy, but Occupy Everywhere needs to keep the hell away from Ron Paul EVERYTHING...especially his damn supporters and their dogs...even though the dog was cute, but that beside the point. I bet a LIBERAL/PROGRESSIVE was there with a dog.

24. The Paulbots are trying to infiltrate OWS
What pisses me off is that they will go to the occupy protests with CAMPAIGN SIGNS. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPdDqhBGc0A

It's ridiculous. Occupy Wall Street is about protesting social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and corruption. It is not about how "Ron Paul is the only hope for these great United States", its about PEOPLE participating in their democracy to end these issues. Ron Paul's views don't even support OWS. It's like the man never learned jack s#$t from history. Does he think there wasn't any corrupt collaboration between government and banks in the 19th and early 20th centuries, before there was a Fed? He never innovates, he just looks for solutions from the past with disregard as to why those solutions didn't work out in the first place.

25. My theory is a little worse....
If you look at Ron Paul's buddy & conspiracy radio show host Alex Jones, you'll see there have been other references to the V for Vendetta movie...before OWS started:
http://www.infowars.com/v-for-victory-posters/

I'm not saying that OWS is a bad idea or that people are there because of Jones....however, one must wonder who "anonymous" is and why they are also using the same movie as their theme. Could be a coincidence...but then again maybe not.
