Dogone! Pooch eats couple's $1,000 cash stash

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Many people have heard the excuse "a dog ate my homework," but not many can say they have heard of a dog eating $1,000 cash.

She withdrew the money, paper clipped it together and left it in an envelope on the counter. Lawrenson and her husband went to work, but when her husband came home on his lunch break, the envelope was gone.

When he looked in the living room, he saw pieces of one-hundred dollar bills scattered across the floor. The rest, including the paper clip, was in Tuity's stomach.

Lawrenson's husband poured peroxide down Tuity's throat before she came home on her lunch break.

They pieced the money back together and took it to the bank. Tuity managed to eat too many serial numbers on the last one-hundred dollar bill. The couple sent it to the Department of Treasury with a letter explaining what happened in hopes of being reimbursed for the rest.

Edited with better link.

2. well that will hopefully teach them to put $1000 in an envelope and leave it on the counter
only the dog got it that time. Heck, put it in a drawer or even under the mattress next time!

3. Big deal (keep reading)...
one of my dogs tore apart our couch, and the other dog followed him around eating all the stuffing. We spent $2000 retrieving the foam from the dog's tummy to keep him from dropping dead, and still had to buy a new couch.

But seriously, I'd be super pissed if my dog did this. That's a lot of money!!

11. That's got to be the lamest pro-banker argument I've ever heard - EVER.
Give your money to the bankers, or your dog will eat it.

20. No, that's not why.
The reason why you should give your money to the bankers is because cash has remnants of dog feces and or vomitus on it.

14. Hydrogen peroxide saved my dog's life
He somehow got into some arsenic peanuts (LONG story) and I got him to puke twice by taking a turkey baster filled with Hydrogen peroxide and making him swallow it.

Still, he had to spend time at the state veterinary hospital to make sure he had no symptoms. He did not -- thanks to HP.

Keep some on hand, along with the baster. Foolproof and not harmful.

Go to the vet nevertheless, if concerns about whatever ingestted.

19. My neighbor's Beagle has used more hydrogen peroxide than the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.
Rat poison, fish food, advil, chocolate, used feminine hygiene products, used prophylactics, aspirin. etc. etc.

He is almost at the point where he self administers.

12. your link is showing as broken
it sounds like you're saying that they were able to put together $900 of the money and get the bills replaced at the bank

so they are only out the last $100 bill?
