1. If he's smart, he wouldn't want to be on the sidelines.
It would make him a relatively easy target for the parents of the children he should have protected and didn't.

That said, It's kind of appalling that almost half the voters in that poll said yes.

2. Joe doesn't do sidelines anymore
He's up in the press box doing his "coaching," and hasn't been on the sidelines for years.

The larger question is why Pennsylvania State University would be selling their football "product" under such a heavy cloud. Do the university trustees really want people going to the game and cheering for the dear old blue and white knowing not only what they the trustees know, but what everyone in the country knows about the grand jury indictment? If they're trying to protect the brand, or preserve the institution's prestige, or whatever they're trying to do, going with the status quo ante leads to one conclusion, and that is that the university is subordinated to Joe Paterno and not the other way around.

4. Trick question
The old fart is never on the sidelines anymore.....just up in the press box drooling and filling his shorts.

Best defense for the guy is the fact he's senile and has been for awhile.

5. I don't believe in online polls
. . . which are by definition unscientific.

My personal feeling is that no, he should not be on the sidelines Saturday. I've been an admirer of Joe Paterno for many years, and this is distressing to say the least.
