so very true...i turned it off when that finally dawned on me..NEVER to be turned on again..and the most amazing thing is that even here I can tell the folks who get their buzz words from the tv instead of bothering to think thru..it is impossible that so many reach the same conclusion or talking points within hours of an event..very narrow world we are expected to inhabit..created and controlled by the tv..from news to sports to celebrity culture including who or what i'm supposed to find interesting..yep, they will continue to own each and every one of us until we turn it off.

14. I think you are basically correct, but your style of presentation will ...

probably cause many to ignore your main points.

This is my version of your key arguments.

Point #1 ... I think you are correct to say that most major corporations, and the super rich, have already gone global. Country borders are pretty much meaningless to them. Corporations can set up new factories anywhere on the globe, and the super rich can purchase homes all across the globe as well. And if the shit hits the fan in one location, so what, you just move.

Point #2 ... Your call for all of the rest of us to "wake up" and recognize this reality and "go global" is also correct. Here is how I explain it. I grew up in Philadelphia. And my family never, ever, considered moving anywhere else. As I grew up, my friends stayed there. Most of them have never left that area. I did. I went to college, left PA, and lived in a number of other states because by moving, I had a better shot at a better career. Most of my old friends and family, still live withing 50 miles of where we grew up. They almost never leave that space.

Point #3 ... a number of years back, my wife could have taken a position leading a technology group in India. Her company was building an presence in that region. We considered it, but decided to not do it. But it was an attractive opportunity in many ways.

My kids have been told these stories. Much like I left PA for a better life, they may find that leaving the US is what they should do at some point.

My mother was not happy when I left PA, and I won't be happy if my kids leave the US, but ... if they do, I know why.

Take me. I grew up in Philly for about 21 years. I have lived in 3 other states, and have not lived in PA for over 26 years.

But I am still "JoePhilly".

The American people, and the Chinese people, will not give up their national identity in the near term.

But what many will do is MOVE. They will maintain some allegiance to their birth state or country, but like me, they will have little connection to their longer term roots ... my ancestors were French and German. My connection to those countries is just above ZERO.

I think the same will be true in a few generations.

However, these are different times. We are dealing with ideas, ideologies, information and our own ways of experiencing things here.

When you mention the word, revolution, it rightfully evokes thoughts of bloodshed and violence. This is where the first transformation comes into place for me. Revolution in our thinking, acting and knowing is easily attainable by degrees. Rather than chunk-up to some overwhelming idea of major action and shifts, (something that may be impossible for one person to accomplish) we can easily chunk-down to the specifics of our own situation and actions and work together from there.

In other words, we can resolve to become revolutionaries of the mind by considering small but effective changes in our own behaviors and patterns -- step-by-step, day-by-day. A little sand in the gears may not have much initial impact until that sand accrues as people continue to toss a handful in the works over time.

So, do the change you want and make it easy and enjoyable. Make it about small tasks and little things that you presuppose could have cumulative effect. For this kind of revolution, there is no need for everyone try to be a hero or even take huge risks or resort to overt destructive behavior. What comes of the changes we make, will come with enough micro-management and insight.

Think about it. Let some pictures form and sounds well up. Get a good feeling for what to do and when. I trust that you know enough about what is going on to find resources in yourself to act appropriately. Talk to others more about increasing choices and flexibility in various ways. Find out the dynamics of change and how they work in our own identities. Focus more on processes rather than just content.
