Argentina lashes out at speculators, wants regulation

CANNES, France Nov 3 (Reuters) - Argentine President Cristina Fernandez on Thursday castigated speculators and called on world leaders to take more action to regulate financial markets and curb erratic moves in raw material prices.

"The real issue is the lack of regulation in the financial markets worldwide," Fernandez said. "It is time for the world to change the current situation ... and call into question the powerful interests of a minority."

The center-leftist president, who won a landslide re-election on Oct. 23, was addressing a B20 business forum on the sidelines of a meeting of G20 leaders on the French Riviera.

Fernandez denounced a "sort of anarcho-capitalism in which no one controls anything" and where, she said, comments by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel or Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou can make markets rally or plunge from one day to the other. .............(more)
