Cat lost by American Airlines two months ago at JFK airport is found 'doing well' in customs room

A cat who became a paws celebre after it was lost by American Airlines at Kennedy Airport two months ago has been found.

The kitty, named Jack, was discovered in an airport customs room late Tuesday and is "doing well," the airline said in a statement.

"Oh my God, we're totally thrilled. Totally, totally thrilled," said Mary Beth Melchior, the sister of Jack's owner, Karen Pascoe. "Thrilled doesn't even cover it."

Melchoir said Jack is receiving treatment at a veterinary hospital in Forest Hills, Queens.

10. There are likely all kinds of things for a cat to eat in the shipping area of an airport

Bugs, rodentia, etc.

That's why humans domesticated them.

8. I needed this
Someone must have helped this precious little guy, probably several someones, and with all the animal abuse stories I see I needed to see this furry angel alive and well.

14. When I was doing post-Katrina cleanup in Pearlington, Miss., I was told about a family
that had left their cat behind as the flood waters were rising in their home during the night. They returned weeks later and heard a feeble meow while they were removing debris. They found their kitty inside the box springs of their bed on the second floor. They had not heard it on their first visit back to their home about a week after Katrina. The cat was nothing but skin and bones, and they had to literally crawl under the bed and gently take it out because it was so weak. But it lived and was doing well.

Probably on Life #8 by now.

Great story. Thanks for showing it.

16. Aww . . . What a Sweet Story

Thanks for posting it; quite uplifting.

What a beautiful cat! I'm so happy for him and his owners. Yeah, some kind employees at the airport must have been feeding him. And he's not the first to get lost at that airport. Glad his story is going to have a happy ending.
