Bill Koch's twin brother David and his older brother Charles are well know to DUers as the "men" behind Wisconsin's Scott Walker. But Bill Koch, worth $3.6 billion, is building a "western world" in western Colorado. It reminds me of how Marie Antoinette built her own fantasy world to live in outside Versailles Palace except this one is more Calamity Jane Cowboy than peasant queen.

Get this: Bill wants to trade 900 acres of his land for 1800 acres of our BLM land so that he can have more privacy at his western world. What an outrage! He thinks he's entitled to greater privacy and he's going to shaft us on a land deal to get it!

An article, "The Price of Privacy," from yesterday's Sunday Denver Post describes his resort as "Part Dodge City, part Neverland." Doesn't this whole thing just scream out for more taxes on these truly "worthless" billionaires?

4. I first heard of Bill Koch years ago
Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 12:54 PM by hfojvt
when Politics1 had him listed as a potential candidate for the US Senate.

It was expected that he would run as a Democrat.

He has made some contributions to some Democrats http://www.denverpost.com/opinion/ci_19159857

There's either oil or mineral rights attached to that land.

8. You want more privacy, Bill? Here's more privacy...
Simply landlock his land with a mile-wide ring of forest land, and declare that ring to be federally protected wilderness. (Motor vehicles aren't allowed in federally protected wilderness.)

After he walks two miles in the snow every time he needs a carton of milk, privacy might be a little less important to him.
