13. Since the toon has only world leaders in it ....
Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 01:49 AM by Tx4obama
I am guessing it is Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen.

But I think Saleh will be booted out before Assad.

Edited to fix typo.

15. You're right, they would never allow the American Worker at the table.
They would just dump them in a hole.

9. It doesn't. Obama gets to thump his chest and say what a badass warrior he is.
Other then that, it means nothing to the average American.

12. What a waste of a potentially good topic title
Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 01:47 AM by wuushew
Here, I naively thought I was clicking on a 2012 presidential thread only be disappointed by some sort of hawkish foreign policy ego masturbation.

There is nothing here to discuss. Where are your rhetorial questions or editiorial opinions stated? You just posted a comment free cartoon image and left. Don't you think GD's finite visual realesate demands more substantial and worthy topics? Please improve yourself.

14. Well, actually you are wrong on two counts.
1) I did not only post a cartoon image, there is a LINK in the OP under the image.
2) I am still here, I did not leave.

16. That link is a joke
there is nothing there. Here are some ideas for better topic selection.

Post an objective news article with a summary paragraph and invite conversation on that topic. Alternatively post a controversial editioral by some asshole like David Brooks or Thom Friedman and state to what degree their opinions differ from reality.

Posting cartoons would also be acceptable if it lead to anything resembling quality discussion perhaps ones regarding European-Muslim cultural sensitivities or such.

How I am to divine your political views when your writing style is so tweet like?

18. Easy to miss the point that one needs to imagine the question being asked of Assad.
That's why the toon is clever: the question isn't directed to the reader as it usually is.

22. Nope!!!
Obama should take to heart Tip O'Neill's old adage: All politics is local.

People are happy that these dictators are no longer in power, but the main concern of Americans is the economy and jobs. Obama will get reelected, or not, based on the state of the economy around election time and not on his foreign policy accomplishments.

25. Well, we'll see how these countries
do with their new governments. Already heard, some are calling for sharia law in libya. I am a woman, I care about the rights and well being of other women in the world. If they suppress rights of women, to me, they've taken steps backwards not forward.

If they proclaim they are a democracy and suppress the minorities in the country, it's a step backward.

26. I agree.
Ironically, when it came to women's rights some of these dictators were more progressive then the people who took over. Pretty scary times for women and girls in the ME.
