1. Thanks.
We may not make as many products as we used to in the US but a lot of what we still make here is great quality.

5. not in this one -- but remember those free trade agreements we just passed?
http://bangordailynews.com/2011/07/29/business/new-balance-struggles-as-last-remaining-major-u-s-athletic-shoemaker/

“The company already could make more money by going overseas and they know it,” said Scott Boulette, 35, a burly team leader who has his son’s name tattooed in Gothic letters down his left forearm. “So we hustle.”

Now, however, comes what may be an insurmountable challenge. The Obama administration is negotiating a free-trade agreement with Vietnam and seven other countries, and it is unclear whether the plant can stand up to a flood of shoes from that country, already one of the leading exporters of footwear to the United States.

“We are deeply concerned by the inclusion of Vietnam in a potential free-trade agreement,” said Rob DeMartini, president and chief executive of New Balance.

22. Actually, they are not. You *really* need to read their web page, where it tells
Edited on Sun Oct-16-11 01:32 PM by Obamanaut
about the different labels they use in their products, depending upon the source of the materials in the shoes.

All of their shoes are not all made in the US.

This link will take you to a page that shows two different labels - Made in USA and Assembled in USA. http://www.shopnewbalance.com/information/madeinusa.asp?s1=NBAS&s2=madeinusa

4. Went shopping for a rug runner yesterday
and I narrowed my choices down to 2. Then I noticed the Made in sticker -- one China, one U.S. There was no competition. Natco Home Fashions is the manufacturer.

18. K & R - I'd like to see more of this really take shape
In fact, I would like to see a company such as Sears Holding Corp. (Sears, Kmart) along with other retailers completely revamp its purchasing and merchandising model to include more Made In USA products and advertise/merchandise the crap out of it!!!!!

The timing is ripe for that right now and I think that it would take off like wildfire!!!

Incidentally, David Muir of ABC's World News with Diane Sawyer has been running periodic segments regarding Made in USA. Here's a small sample:

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/david-muirs-view-made-a...

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/made-america-clothing-c...

And another related video:

Lastly, Roger Simmermaker has been a long term advocate of this and his website is listed here:

25. nice list but
Telleson jeans $198.00 for a pair

Allen Edmonds shoes average $350 a pair

Soulcraft bikes $4,000 to $5,000

Imogene + Willie men's jeans $298 shirts $195 women's jean $225

Raleigh Denim jeans $285

Stronghold Jeans $200

Roy’s Jeans $275

Quoddy $450 for a pair of shoes?

I could go on but you get my point, I want to buy American but not end up in the poorhouse. These prices are top 1% prices not bottom 99% prices.
