MDP: Defend Democrats Now!

Can you believe what the Michigan GOP and its Tea Party allies are doing? Republican recall language has been approved for three more Democratic State Representatives, bringing the total to 6! It is appalling that the GOP/Tea Party and their corporate cronies are trying to recall these Legislators simply for voting AGAINST massive tax breaks for corporations at the expense of Michigan's children and seniors. Now, more than ever, it is clear that the Republicans in Lansing do not have the state's best interests at heart - they simply want to punish Democrats who stand up to them.

In order to stop these outrageous attacks, we need you to do three things:

Inform your friends and neighbors about the Michigan GOP's attempts to recall these Legislators. These recalls are unnecessary, expensive, and distracting to both the citizens of this state and to the Democratic State Reps just trying to do their jobs. So spread the word: forward our emails to your friends, post to your Twitter or Facebook accounts, or write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.
Volunteer to help the MDP spread the message about these recalls. We are beginning a vigorous "Decline to Sign" campaign focused on informing people about the recall petitions. Without you knocking on doors and making phone calls, there is no way we can reach out to everyone.
Donate to the MDP. Even if you can only give $10, we need your help! While the Tea Party and the Michigan GOP have the support of huge corporations like Dick DeVos' Amway and shady organizations like Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, the MDP relies on the grassroots support of people like you.

Time is of the essence when it comes to defeating these recall efforts, and if we don't act fast, the Michigan GOP and its corporate allies will collect enough signatures to get these Democrats recalled. If we don't stop them now, these Legislators will be subject to a recall election on the same day as the Republican presidential primary, further tipping the scales in the Tea Party's favor.
