Dad accused of ramming child crossing guards

--------------------

Prosecutors say Vernon Suriaga, 43, of San Mateo lost his temper when he wanted to turn into a John F. Kennedy Elementary School parking lot to drop off his young daughter.

Around 8:05 a.m. on Sept. 23, two boys who were directing traffic told Suriaga he couldn't enter the parking lot for 10 minutes.

After saying he wanted to make a U-turn, Suriaga then drove into the parking lot, authorities said. The two boys stepped in front of the car to stop Suriaga, said San Mateo District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

Suriaga then revved his engine and struck the boys with his car, Wagstaffe said. The boys were bumped in their abdominal area but did not fall down

4. Remember Bill Hicks' bit about mandatory marijuana? I think it's time to implement it.

6. I was thinking that, too. Funny that one argument vs legalizing pot is "PEOPLE MAY DRIVE ON IT!!!"!
In some cases, seriously.. it might help.

3. Boys directing traffic? I haven't seen that in at least 30 years. Thank
heavens no one was hurt.

The guy is an idiot and deserves whatever they can give him.

8. Bumping and ramming are not the same. Shame on them for exaggerating!

And shame on the school for having students in that position, and though I don't condone the father, he could've easily just allowed his daughter out of the car at the driveway, I can understand the total anger one might feel when one needs to deliver one's child to school and is told to set and wait 10 minutes. There could've been all kinds of really good reasons why he needed to let her off early.

Edited to correct: A second grader should be able to be dropped off early.

His behavior after arriving in the parking lot is inexcusable at any time, for any reason.

9. And he didn't stop with that.......

Suriaga drove into the parking lot, stopped his car and chased the boys. He grabbed a third traffic-patrol boy and screamed at him, Wagstaffe said. He also yelled at a mother who watched the altercation, the prosecutor said.

Collecting himself, Suriaga then walked his daughter, a second-grader, into the school before returning to his car and driving away, according to reports.

Wow, I bet his daughter is proud of her dad.

11. why did the boys step in front of the car to stop him?
geez, there's a reason we don't have kids direct traffic. they should not have been put in that position.

and he's a jackwagon.
