GOP Sees ‘Mob’ in Wall St. Protests

from Consortium News:

GOP Sees ‘Mob’ in Wall St. Protests
October 10, 2011

The Republican complaint that any talk about raising taxes on the rich is “class warfare” has now refocused on the protests against Wall Street greed as an example of “mob” rule, instigated by President Barack Obama. But Danny Schechter finds the GOP accusation absurd.

By Danny Schechter

Who is behind the Wall Street protests? Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has searched up and down in his usual rigorous manner and found the culprit.

In his knee-jerk view, it’s President Barack Obama. His latest crime: encouraging these “mobs.”

In one sentence, he blamed the President who, in GOP conspiracy think, is to blame for everything, including bad weather. He also not so subtly conjures up the memory of the Mafia, New York’s perennial bad guys.

In one phrase, Obama stood accused of encouraging these … pause for righteous indignation … MOBS! ..........(more)

2. Because the teabaggers Nevvvver held demonstrations, right?
Even back when they were front page news every day chanting to "take our country back", their own numbers were inflated. Of course they took up as much real estate with between all their medicare supplied electric "rascal" carts, lawn chairs, not to mention the legendary girth of the average 'bagger.

7. "legendary girth of the average 'bagger."
..... that reminds me of a Bill Maher "New Rules" segment about the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert march:

".....and it was twice the size of the Glenn Beck crowd in August, although it weighed the same."

4. This is first time in eons the Left has even been seen in public
much less try to get a message out. This defies
the idea that this is a Right Wing Country ( even
if the Beltway Media thinks so.) The Republicans
have so monopolized any conversations that they
had come to believe the rank and file Democrats
would roll over just like those Democrats on the
Hill. There is a fact: There are more Registered
Democrats in every state than Republicans. They
have been muted and ignored by the Media. The GOP
are feeling threatened by the appearance of Protestors
rising up. Even if the Protestors are disgusted wtth
both Parties, their demands are from the Left.

Remember when they say the country is center right
according to Polls. Most Likely Voters. Upscale
and those over around 60K annually. Yes more of
these are Republican and they can accurately say
they hold center right views. These polls are skewed
Republican. Even Gallup has said this in speeches
on C-Span.

Rank and file Democrats are rising up--Listen to us
too. This threatens RWers.

15. The Republican Response
Is very revealing. They are both scared and sick. The portrayal of the protesters by their media outlets is ridiculous and could lead to violence against them. The amount of comments I've read in various forums suggesting that every last protester be put to death is flat out scary.

Keep it going people, we're ruffling their feathers for a reason. This is their worst nightmare both socially and politically.
