Was today a good day for OWS or not?
I have been in and out all day.

So tell me, was it a good day or not?

1. Our local gas station, where people normally gas up and also get some cash back
With their purchase, is refusing to give any cash back.

I mentioned my disgust with the new policy, and said something to the cashier to the effect that the banks own this nation. Then she embarked on a long discourse about the evils of banking.

I responded with a "It's both parties, you know. Not just the Democrats."

"That's very obvious, isn't it," she said.

This store is manned by RW Christians and other RW nuts, so either she somehow slipped through the hiring process, or everyone is getting that idea that it's about the banks taking over our society, from top to bottom.

2. I've seen 3 kind of negative things today. I hope there was lots of positives to bury
any not so great stuff. The 3 negatives were 1. Getting the Air & Space Museum shut down; 2. The John Lewis episode didn't sit right with some people; and 3. A NYT article about how the protest is negatively effecting the families and small businesses who live right in that NYC neighborhood. Sounded bad and they didn't sound like jerky people. Most sounded somewhat supportive of the intent of the protest but the practical effect of what it is doing to their neighborhood is not good (also furthered the dirty, smelly hippy stereotype).

Hopefully, I just missed the good stuff today.

4. A group called "October 11" is blamed for the march into the museum, not OWS
but try to get that through to the MSM...

6. Yeah. They will never straighten it out. I'm afraid it is going to become a negative brush that they
will paint all the protesters with now.

9. Who is the October 11 group & how do they differ from OWS? I know there
was some confusion after it happened in trying to figure out who did that.

25. " Getting the Air & Space Museum shut down"
That was a rightwing troll who is bragging online about doing it.

The John Lewis thing is nonsense. Lewis apparently thought that being An Important Person, he would get some sort of priority treatment and a GA. Lewis was clueless. The people making a stink about this here are the usual suspects.

The NYT is desperately searching for ways to discredit the protest. Gee, why would that be?

3. It was bustling today
The three on the left are DUers... I'm the one holding a hot dog.

That's KrisposKid

This is a pretty powerful image, I think.

KrisposKid at Zuccotti Park

An area shot of Zuccotti Park

Another.

I wanted to make sure I spelled "Zuccotti" right!

"Ronald Reagan sucks balls". Hmph, I didn't know that. Traded arms for hostages, knew that though.

That statue is of George Washington. The NYSE is right across the street; it was barricaded off to foot traffic.

There was a constant stream of protesters moving down Wall Street.

Mounted cops standing around. That building corner on the left is the NYSE building.

7. Well, there were others their, and I wasn't there that long
KrisposKid got bored and wanted to "do something". Since there wasn't any rioting or looting going on, no beheadings of Wall Street executives... not a single pitchfork or torch in sight! So we wandered off after looking around the square for a while.

Lost sight of the other DUers... :-(

12. Well, that's too bad, since it could have been a great learning experience for him...
And fun for you to meet up with other DUers. And, thankfully, no pitchforks or torches in sight! But if he was my kid, I would have wanted to make him smile, too... :D :hi:

18. I explained what was going on several times during the day...
...about how the rich didn't care about everybody else because they have a mental illness that makes them pursue money, and how it's effecting everything and making it hard for Daddy to find a new job.

:-)

24. I actual thought I was just posting the link. I didn't think it would show the photo because I
didn't copy & paste the property address. Too late to edit. I could ask a moderator to delete it, I guess.
