1. He's just lucky that Tony Bologna
isn't there to spritz a little pepper spray into his face.

I'm starting to lose a lot of respect for cops. I know they have a tough job but if they're so damned simple that they can't figure out a decent response on their own and fall back on SOP guidance they're too fucking dim to be allowed to carry weapons.

36. Reminds me of this one from a few years ago.
Real big men tackled a peaceful protester who committed the crime of walking on the sidewalk, breaking her knee in the process, and threatened to mace the other woman who's taking photos. Yeah, real big men. :eyes:

The DC cops were considerably cooler that this to the Occupy DC protestors. Now I realize that Occupy DC just started and Occupy Wall St has been going for a while, and it remains to be seen if the DC police will continue to be cool with the protestors...

Easy to make a case either way for whatever side you like...

b) Dirty jobless hippie who attacked a cop and has been restrained...

It is literally a centimeter away.

And this photo is also a split second in time, we don't yet know what happened before or after the photo was taken.

5. We ALL need to be there. All of us.
They can't step on all of our necks. There aren't enough cops in the whole state of New York to manage that.

There need to be MILLIONS of people sitting right in the middle of the streets. I'm sick of watching our people be abused for daring to speak out.

look how unprotected it is hanging out there in the open.

Also, put me in that position and a quick grab of the crotch and that cop will jump three feet.

It could get ugly very quickly if people went to interfere. Either someone would take the gun and shoot the cop or the cop would shoot someone.

the cop using his knee has one on his left arm, the cop grabbing his arm has one on his right arm.

start watching any troublemakers in the crowd, see if they have white wristbands.

16. If he reached just a little to the right he could give that cop's knob a great, big freedom tug.
But that won't solve the problem. Peacefully accepting arrest as he is highlights the problem and look how the outrage is spreading. #OWS is hilighting so many problems at once and so much energy is going against those problems, it's just amazing/wonderful.

Homeland security has also bought you a hotel room in a "camp" in Fresno if all hell breaks loose, which somebody was expecting to happen during the Bush years.

42. Yes, check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P8jYKOPQQs"> Jesse Ventura Conspiracy Theory - Police State Part 3 of 6 (video)

I think there are 20 or so "Fusion Centers" around the country now that were built in the last years of the Bush administration using all the windfall Homeland Security money. There are at least half a dozen of these "FEMA prisons" which are actually Homeland Security prisons which have no identified purpose. They made Ventura pull this episode of his recent TV show.

50. I found the video overwrought, but also found very disquieting information about the centers
on DHS own web page:
http://www.dhs.gov/files/programs/gc_1156877184684.shtm
Essentially, the lines between private and government intelligence gathering are gone, the intelligence gathering is done at EVERY level!

"State and major urban fusion centers (fusion centers) serve as focal points within the state and local environment for the receipt, analysis, gathering, and sharing of threat-related information between the federal government and state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT) and private sector partners".

Chilling..implications are very chilling.

Isn't Democracy great? No wonder the Egyptian protesters, when asked, responded that 'no, we do not want US Style Democracy'.

But the NYPD has proved one of the points of these protests. That nearly all of our institutions have been bought and paid for by Wall St. including our Police Departments, paid for by the people, but working for Corporate America.

33. I see theatrics
Looks like the legendary Jerry Springer show. Every participant either mugging for the lens or snapping the scene. Is that Peter Noone standing at right? Tragicomic opera does not contribute to a righteous cause, as I believe OWS is indeed.

Trash acting from either side does not a legitimate movement make.

39. No clue what to think as they're isn't any context here -
- no idea what was going on. The guy looks alert, hand around cops thigh - and that rather surprises me. He's not sweating or red in the face so don't see any signs of distress. No blood, bruises. Glasses still on his head. He has at least one free hand - can't see his feet - so he's not totally helpless. Officer appears calm, as well. IMO, he looks to be in good shape for the situation he's in and it appears to be a protest arrest.
