On the latest edition of Up with Chris Hayes, the new MSNBC host interviewed “Americans United for Life” CEO Charmaine Yoest, whose group’s report was a key factor in spurring the investigation led by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL).
But Hayes wanted clarification on a statement made by Lewis Morris, the Health and Human Services Office Inspector General, on Medicare and Medicaid fraud that “Americans United for Life” assumed in their report was directed towards Parent Parenthood. Morris called that linkage ‘misleading.’
“My testimony before the House Ways and Means subcommittee on oversight centered on a board description of the office of inspector general’s approach to combat medicare and medicaid fraud,” Morris said in a statement to Hayes. “I didn’t reference Planned Parenthood nor was it the subject of my testimony. To imply that my comments were directed toward Planned Parenthood is misleading.”
