7. Since the official legal channels for dealing with police abuse are just whitewashes...
I endorse Anonymous for finding a lever that's actually effective and pulling it.

What's the official investigation going to do? He'll get a paid vacation suspension and a strongly worded letter in his file.

3. Oh, why did I look! I try to think that most cops are the good guys.
Then cops just have to get in the way of that thinking. My stomach is turning.

9. Yea, pretty pathetic.

"Jack-booted thug" is an apt description of just about every "officer" under the age of thirty in this neck of the woods. BTW, I knew MacPhail in Savannah. His "nic" on the street was "Superman."

Obviously, I'm not a happy camper.

8. pigs, plain and simple....
Porkers. Law enforcement is a profession that attracts pigs. Sure, there are some good, conscientious cops out there-- but there are also a lot of pigs.

11. The one group of cops that actually did earn my respect...
was the 100 or so that caught the Blue Flu and called in sick rather than go Tony Baloney on the Wall Street protesters.

13. This is why you go to the ACLU, not the police themselves to report police abuse.
And by all means, LAWYER UP!

14. Reactionary trash.
They should change out their blue uniforms for brown or black. It would suit them better.

15. One of the knuckle dragging neanderthals wants the "dirty hippies," to continue with the protests
because it gives him overtime pay and he needs it to put new tires on his "gas guzzling SUV." I've said this before, many police officers are control freaks, they are self righteous and many are becoming more and more militant rather than being the public servants they claim to be, who are there to "serve and protect." Many of their attitudes have become "them against us" like and we are all looked at by the police as criminals unless proven otherwise. Some of the troglodytes, when together privately, sit and joke about the rest of us as though they are better than the average citizen. They certainly recognize they are more powerful than most of us since they have powers of arrest and a lot of friends and family members who possess those same powers. For some time now I have lacked trust in the police, my lack of trust just grows stronger each and everyday.

16. The only difference between a cop and criminal is a badge
if they didn't have that badge they'd be doing hard time busting rocks in the big house. x(

17. Wait...people at DU are SURPRISED by this?
Really? I'm (a little) shocked.

I've known police, and the vast majority of them are JUST. LIKE. THIS. It's not the person who wants to make a difference who becomes a cop, it's the guy who was a bully in High School and then realizes he has no way to make people do what he says once he hits adulthood that becomes a cop. Obviously there are some exceptions, but the Great Blue Shield either converts them or runs them out in short order more often than not.

Always sad to see, but a very stark reminder of why playing in the system is a loser's game.

18. Everyone should see THIS
"Two studies have found that at least 40% of police officer families experience domestic violence, (1, 2) in contrast to 10% of families in the general population.(3) A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24% (4), indicating that domestic violence is 2-4 times more common among police families than American families in general."
