Pew poll: Republican buyer's remorse
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2011/1/14/936338/-Pew-poll:-Republican-buyers-remorse

While Obama’s overall job performance measure has held steady since the midterm election, this has not been the case for the Republican congressional leaders. The new survey finds the public disapproving of their policies and plans for the future by a 43% to 34% margin. Just two months ago, in a poll taken days after the election, the public had a more positive view: 41% approved, 37% disapproved.

Changing views of the GOP’s policy agenda are most noticeable among moderate and liberal Republicans, who approved of party leaders’ plans by 78% to 3% in November. Today, 57% of moderate and liberal Republicans approve while 22% disapprove. Independents, too, have grown more dissatisfied with the GOP’s direction; shortly after the election, about as many independents approved (39%) as disapproved (35%) of the GOP’s plans and policies for the future. Today, 30% approve while 45% disapprove.

The public continues to say they want Obama and Republican leaders to work together, but there is considerable skepticism that this will occur. About six-in-ten (61%) say GOP leaders should try to work with Obama to accomplish things, even if it means disappointing some groups of Republican supporters. A similar percentage (65%) says Obama should do the same in working with Republicans.

But by roughly two-to-one (63% to 30%), most Americans think Republicans and Democrats will end up bickering and opposing one another more than usual this year.

"I should have realized that RepubliCorp is all about screwing me and my family while the fatcats get fatcattier, and they flog the fear & hate & fail memes. RepubliCorp & Cronies are truly toxic to the economy, to the environment, and to my beloved America's soul. Yech.

"Why, O why -- dear Lord -- did I suck up the crap from Faux News (R)?"

2. You broke it, you own it
Voters just don't understand the ramifications of the simple act of voting.

One punch or one touch or one mark and you could be changing the whole world. They base their votes on what they year in the news or because they think one candidate looks nicer than the other or just because of one thing they saw or heard the candidate do. Voters never look at the big picture.

3. Don't blame me I vote Democrat
perhaps this will help people realize that "staying home" on election day "to give them a message" doesn't work or that you shouldn't watch a news program to hear their opinions of the news?

4. Um, 'moderate and liberal' Republicans? What is that like .0002% of Republicans?
Seriously, what liberal could be a Republican since 1980?

5. Liberal Republican

is indeed a dying breed, but there are 3 or 4 still remaining...these are reasonable folks. What I like most about them is they really have little interest in polarizing politics and come out better than Conservative Democrats on a LOT of issues that I actually care about.

Hell, I actually like Liberal Republicans more than Conservative Democrats, because I expect nothing (or worse) from all Republicans.

The only negative (as I can see) in Liberal Republicans is their numbers help put guys like Boner into the Speakers chair.

6. Yes I agree. I voted for Ford over Carter as a very young 'moderate'.
I know there were a few 'moderates' like Snowe in the Northeast who still kind of cling to the moderate label.

I like reasonable folks regardless of who they affiliate with. Frankly, I'd rather talk politics with a 'reasonable' Republican than a die-hard Democrat/liberal. I like people who are open to new ideas and open to being wrong and who can intelligently discuss issues. I dislike people who cling to ideology, half the time not even knowing why they support something.

I've got Republican friends who lambaste Colorado's former governor for 'raising taxes', when Colorado has a constitutional amendment which forces a vote on any tax increase.

7. I never understood those wanting to support or join groups that hate them.
Kind of like the gay Log Cabin Republicans. I just don't get it. Maybe it's based on years of being put down.

At any rate, thanks for being brave. Just remember to come out, we need you here. It's all hands on deck time.
