VIEWERS HORRIFIED AS THEY WATCH IDIOT STORM REPORTER @ NAGS HEAD DISAPPEAR IN GIANT WAVE
All the Kings men and all the Horses could not stop laughing...

This is a joke...

this is insane...those fools are risking their lives....

3 years ago, I recall one reporter swept down on his knees and blown down the block...

during a sim storm...

this is insane

1. I saw some Weather guy slogging in and the anchor saying "that's
X coming to shore, he's been standing in the water in 70mph winds". Even if they know what they're doing, weather is so unpredictable!

3. What's a joke?
That someone disappeared in a wave? Are you joking in your post? If not, what station? Your post is lacking in info.

6. No reporter disappeared (yet)...
Edited on Sat Aug-27-11 11:57 AM by JHB
A Weather Channel reporter is covering the storm right from the beach. Complete with waves coming up to his feet and wind-whipped sand blasting him.

Nice visuals for showing the intensity of the storm. Pretty dumb for doing exactly what the tell everyone else to NOT do.

The OP was just voicing what lots of people are half-expecting to happen at some point.

7. I saw a guy on Weather Channel on the beach - a surge wave came up
up behind him to his knees (easily enough to knock someone off his feet) and as he kept reporting I heard his cameraman yell "Get out of there!"

He didn't.

5. Yet people keep on watching this sort of madness
Really, you may think this is stupid, horrifying, insane, or whatever, but your eyeballs are still on the channel, you are still adding to the ratings count.

Don't like what is being shown, then stop watching. Enough people do that, they'll get the message eventually and stop having their reporters risk life and limb.

along the sidewalk on the side of a building not too long ago. LOL!

11. Weather reporter is a pretty useless profession
There is no reason to have anyone standing on a beach to communicate that the wind speed is X miles per hour at Nags Head.

12. I wouldn't really care
What is there to get horrified about? Stand in the ocean during a hurricane, get swept out to sea, you're just a dumb ass in my book.

13. The level of dumfuckery today is even worse than it usually is
I'll be quite surprised if they all get out alive this time.

Yes, guys, there are some things you should not be doing for money. You can show how strong the storm is away from the beach. The camera guy can photograph the pretty waves with a telephoto lens from inside a structure.

The funniest one was when I flipped on TWC to see where the storm was. Some goon with a microphone was standing in the road complaining about all the people who were driving by. Hey stupid! Why do you think they think it's safe to be out there? Could it be because you are out there?

15. You know, I know how stupid it is. And yet, I would want to do the same thing
if I were in the area. I would have a hard time resisting. I run outside during tornado warnings, because I want to see one (I did see two, both weak). Now, lightning, I don't mess with...

18. Just to even things up for the reporters, surfers are often doing their thing ahead of hurricanes
And along with Geraldo, my man Dan RATHER was often joked about "being wrapped around a lamp post." And Rick SANCHEZ getting himself tased is in the same territory.

They live for air time. Well, not the surfers.

19. Dan Rather went thru Hurricane Carla in 1961, working at KHOU.
In Houston. That's how he got famous.
KHOU is famous for firing people, who get promoted and famous later. Jessica Savitch worked at Channel 11 before she got famous.

Hannah Storm was the sports reporter on 97 FM Rock back in the 1980s with some guy named Moby (Not the singer).
