Joe the Plumber considering running against Marcy Kaptur for Congress.

Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber, is considering a run against U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur in 2012, according to Republican Party sources.

Jon Stainbrook, chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party, said there is "high-level interest in the national Republican Party" in a potential Wurzelbacher candidacy

Miss Kaptur (D., Toledo) has represented Ohio's 9th congressional district since 1983. She won with 59 percent of the vote in 2010 and her district voted heavily in favor of President Obama in 2008, but congressional redistricting later this year could shake up the district's political demographics.

Here's why the party thinks JTP makes a good candidate:
"He would make a fantastic candidate," Mr. Stainbrook said. "He goes hunting with Sarah Palin. He's friends with Ann Coulter. He's got the ability to raise the money if he makes a decision to jump into the race."


If I was Rep. Kaptur, I'd normally be snickering that JTP is my potential opponent. Kaptur's been right-on about NAFTA, the hosuing foreclosure debacle, Wall Street bailout, and a number of other issues before most other members of Congress began speaking out. But, I've also learned to never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter.

The Republicans are just sending out another "celebrity" and thinking he/she will win on name recognition alone.

Last election, the Republicans ran Rich Iott against Kaptur. His claim to fame was inheriting his father's chain of grocery stores, selling them out for a killing, leading to the closure of the chain and throwing employees to the unemployment line. Oh, and he was the one who also met with his man-friends and dressed like a Nazi military officer.
