Can somebody tell me why people like Ann Coulter,,,,
Edited on Sun Aug-21-11 09:01 AM by Gordon Shumway
has the gall to call union protesters "terroristic mobs that need to be treated like Hitler"? Is she trying to goat the persons living at their houses and/or their neighbors to invoke what many call "the castle doctrine"? What part of "We come in peace" do they not understand? And by the way, "We come in peace" is not just for aliens anymore. There has been no property damage throughout the neighborhood, nor any assaults committed by the brave men and women who only want equal rights.

14. I've heard of Verizon, but who is this "Coulter" you speak of?
Someone who constantly makes such stupid & hateful things doesn't deserve the attention she receives. She is best forgotten.

19. OK, I'll Bite
She is the illegitimate love child of Joan Collins and Joe Pyne and she looks like a man wearing one of those classy Fredericks of Hollywood wigs. Whenever she opens her mouth she spews the bile of Dick Cheney, and I think a veritable likeness of her image appears in the photo below, which was originally entitled "The Inception Of The Happy Meal", albeit something was lost in the translation.

12. The operative word being "almost"
While thousands of responsible voices aren't heard on the major media outlets, ninnies such as Coulter (and her ideological godfather Pat Buchanan) get booked time and again to spew venom. Maybe we should ask Bill Maher what the attraction is, or if we can just put it down to lazy producers.

10. questioning anything Ann Coulter says is pretty much a rhetorical question.
Why ask why? She's not worth paying attention to. She's a verbal performance artist, at best.

13. I think hardly anyone DOES like her anymore, as the other poster said.
The poo flinging that the Coulters of the world do is so easy to do that there's very little barrier to entry to that field, so eventually you get crowded out by your competition and new flavors of the month.

I feel that this has happened to Coulter, pretty much as of the last election cycle. Since a significant part of Coulter's gimmick is that she's supposed to be a hot blonde (gag) spouting this right wing nonsense, the appearance of Palin on the scene stole away what little thunder Coulter had left.

The only good part is that it feels to me like Palin's time is pretty much done, too, whether or not she decides to get in the GOP race at this point it feels like everything has moved on from her which is a small blessing in an otherwise shitty time.

18. Same reason we like Jon Stewart
Yes I know I put out flame bait but here me out.

Both feed into a certain world view. Both attract people with that world view who enjoy seeing it reinforced and hearing the other side rightfully blasted with rightious indignation.

Human beings get satisfaction from being able to tell someone else. Both Jon and what's her name allow their audience to do that through them.

Of course just because they have similarities doesn't mean they are equivalent.

One uses real world observations. The other seems to somehow fart of out her mouth.

But the emotional underpinnings of their appeal are very much the same.
