Gabby Gifford's medical care.
Gifford is receiving outstanding medical care at Tucson Medical Center. The surgeons that are caring for her
have given awesome press conferences detailing her care and the nature of her injuries. Seems with
-out this exceptional care she wouldn't have survived.

More than likely Gifford is being covered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP).
Probably the finest coverage in the country and paid for by taxpayers.

Just last week there was another Az. citizen waiting for and denied a transplant on Keith Olbermann's
show. While I wish Gabby Gifford and all the others still hospitalized the very best, it's impossible
for me not to see and feel extremely disturbed by the disparity in healthcare given our elected officials
and some of the people they represent.

1. I wish I didn't have to agree with you
I would love to give you a dozen examples of where your post is factually inaccurate and then mock you mercilessly for it.

Sadly however, I think everything you said is right on the mark.

3. Up to 75% is paid by the taxpayers. I'll take that deal.
And the Congressional perks don’t stop with the FEHBP. According to the article “Health care as good as Congress gets,” by John Barry, a staff writer for the St. Petersburg Times, “Members of Congress have their own pharmacy, right in the Capitol. They also have a team of doctors, technicians and nurses standing by in case something busts in a filibuster. They can get a physical exam, an X-ray or an electrocardiogram, without leaving work.”

Although members pay extra for these services - Representatives pay about $300 per month, and Senators about $600 - taxpayers end up kicking in another $2 million. That’s $2 million not being spent on those who need it.

5. Not to mention....
because of her husband being an astronaut 2 specialists were called in to go over the treatment Ms Gifford has been given. One was on his way to Afghanistan and was called back. They appeared on a news conference this morning. She is receiving the BEST care possible. And the uninsured? Not so much.

6. FEHBP is far from the finest in the country
most other unionized plans are better in one respect or another.
