Rick Perry's Texas jobs boom: The whole story
Source: CNN Money

Texas, however, still faces many challenges on the jobs front. Many of the positions that have been created are on the lower end of the pay scale. Some 550,000 workers last year were paid at or below the federal minimum wage of $7.25, more than double the number making those wages in 2008, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That's 9.5% of the Texas workforce, which gives it the highest percentage of minimum-wage workers in the nation -- a dubious title it shares with Mississippi.

Going forward, the Lone Star State will have to work even harder to create jobs. That's because Perry signed a budget in May that slashes $15 billion in government spending over the next two years. Also, the federal stimulus funds that poured into the state since 2009 have largely dried up.

The state budget cuts alone could result in the loss of more than 100,000 jobs, many of them in the public sector, Clower said. Thousands of teachers are already feeling the impact of more than $5 billion in cuts to education funding.

1. That's why Perry has to run now
His supposed job-creating 'skill' is about to blow up in his fundie face. Rachel Maddow had the scoop on this thumper right after Newtie's dream team disbanded. She did a proper job of scaring the living crap out of me about Perry.

2. Allow me to translate what Perrys speech should be when announces it officially
"As governor of the great state of Texas I have decided to follow in the footsteps of my idol George Bush (jr) and seek the office of president (and because after bankrupting my own state I need to find a new job fast before the people of my state can hang me from the highest tree they can find)."

6. Ain't that the truth.
You never hear the Bastards say: "My jobs plan has put 25,000 people to work in order that they can depressingly barely exist"

4. Since teabaggers are so extreme, vocal and disliked at the moment,
I just hope that if he wins the primaries, people in the general election will be put off by the wingers draping themselves all over him and reflexively run to Obama, Bernie or whoever else is running. Teabaggers are toxic right now. I just hope they stay that way. And Perry's going to claim the moon landing was faked just to woo them. He might not be able to swing back to a more moderate position to attract the general electorate. My position: he'll start out strong, but crash and burn in the primaries. He's got too much they can get him on, immigration being his biggest stumbling block.

7. He'll take Idaho as well
The good folks here interpret "R" as (correctly) meaning reactionary, which suits them just fine.

8. And just what does Texas need more of these days?
Everything that "non-existent" climate change has to offer: Oppressive summer heat coupled with greater energy demand, cyclical floods and droughts contributing to crop failure, more frequent and more severe tornado and hurricane events (hey, we got FEMA so why worry?), plus establishment of new invasive species of flora and fauna to displace naturally-occurring ones. Perry is a "godsend" who will do his level best to ensure that all the above come off like clockwork. Just do nothing, sit back, and accept "God's will" as Biblical prophesy and not as human generated disaster.

10. You can not live on a minimum wage job.
So George W. Perry is responsible for swelling the ranks of federal and state programs that will have to step in to feed, house, and provide medical care for these Texans.

And here I though he hated "big government."

13. You'd think Scary Perry's run for the WH would conflict with his trying to get TX out of the Union:
Here's one idea for Scary Perry's 2012 Slogan: "The White House or Secession."

14. Part of the reason
for the jump in jobs in texas- up here in Erie, PA, until Chimpy won in 2001 we had a thriving manufacturing hub. The head of the local "manufacturing association" (in reality a right wing anti union group, who sponsored Chimpys apearance here after he left office) was in Texas for quite a while, he came back and it was like a giant vaccum sucking manufacturing jobs out of Erie. Quite a few of those union jobs went to Texas and became non-union. So, part of Perrys MO is to talk to owners of union shops in other states and get them to relocate. And as you know, Erie was one of the cities put in Sarah Palins "crosshairs", as it has always been a strong union democrat town. Now G.E. is about all that is left. Don't bother asking our DINO mayor to help, when Chimpy was here the city police were roughing up protestors, and every year Palph Pontillo (head of "manufacturers association) and Mayor Joe Sinnot (DINO) cosponsor "Roar on the Shore", where all the boogereating racist republican methheads from the dingy weeds come to town on bikes, behave like toal assohles, and don't get bothered by the cops. We will soon be redistricted courtesy of Mike Kelly, a generation long strong democratic town will be subject to vast rural areas of born again vrazies. Thanks, Joe.

15. Perry promises to outdo China
in getting wages as low as anywhere in the world. He's surely going beat China in having the greatest percentage of people without health insurance. Texas ranks first in that department while China has recently implemented universal health insurance. So take that, China!
