The country needs help
from responsible Republicans. I know they are out there, because during my active work days, back in the sixties through eighties, I associated with a number of Republicans. In those days we could have political discussions, without the hatred displayed currently. I would expect that a good portion of the Republicans, that I knew, are still kicking, along with numerous others.

We have to tone down our distaste for them. The leadership of that party, and the Tea party, deserve our distaste, but we can display it in a more moderate manner. An earlier post by Tom Hartman, expressed his concern that corporations are in total control of politics in this country, and I believe that the Democratic party can't fight them alone.

I am not attempting to change Democratic Underground, just to moderate it.

2. They are dying off quick
Didn't Mark Hatfield depart recently? He was a "reasonable Republican".

5. In todays poll by the Peninsula News
in a primarily conservative, Olympic Peninsula, asked: If they considered themselves part of the Tea Party? 31% said yes and 69% no.

3. I think all the responsible ones have died or changed party affiliation.
I have no faith that there are any in office that care enough to be responsible.

to Hatfield that also included decent, or at least decent acts by currents Rs. Her examples were Christie for his defense of his muslim judge nomination and saying that he has had enough of the "crazies", Sen. Hutchinson for being the lone (I think) R sentor to fight for the FAA bill when it was stuck, and even Romney for "daring" to say that he believes there is such a thing as human caused global warming.
