Poll question: Five Questions: 1. Are all of our problems somehow connected to President Obama?
2. If he were to exit the scene somehow, would his exit alleviate those problems?

Essays:

3. Merely by his exit alone and without proposing some favorite hypothetical replacement (i.e., Sanders, HRC or Nader), what problems do you believe would be alleviated?

4. What do you think comprises a greater threat to the Republicans; their own incompetence or an agitated and organized electorate that supports all Democrats?

5. What do think is the best way to break the deadlock and get enough voters to support Democrats in a way that will neutralize the Republicans?

2. Your time might be better spent elsewhere,
where your participation was not only welcomed, but actively solicited. But you just suit yourself.

"All of man's trouble stem from his inability to sit quietly in a room alone."

(choosing from one of several versions of this saying)

:hi:

Edited to add the wave.

7. The best way to neutralize Republicans is to have Democrats take a stand
against Republican ideology that damages the economic and social landscape. Then many more will rally.

8. "Connected" is an odd choice of words
I don't think by his actions he is making things better--guess that would be alleviating.

I think there have been a few actions that exacerbate the problem (continuing the fascist police state (warrantless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, ever-increasing surveillance in the name of "security", siding with unjust laws rather than not defending them (getting better with this slowly), continually favoring the upper 2%, abandoning the New Deal). Not many, really, but a few, and that sets the tone of the country. Are we all that much better than we were under Bush with "Free Speech Zones"?

The President is not a monarch. However, he has an extraordinary amount of power in the political system that Obama chooses not to exercise.

Ultimately, he's Just Another Conservative Democrat. Which is definitely disappointing. At first I thought he was just tone-deaf to people not like him with regards to sexual orientation and civil rights--not surprising, really; most straight people I know can't understand that they're operating from a point of privilege and for some it's the only privilege they have, so they're feeling their oats. Turns out he's tone-deaf to people not like him with respect to income as well--sorry, but that's a pretty damning statement for a Democrat.

And then there's this bubble that seems to surround Washington DC at every level. I think the Community Organizer from Chicago needs to start talking to some Community Organizers in Chicago (and Denver, and LA, and Seattle, and Houston, and New Orleans, and Atlanta, and Portland, and, and, and.)
