I Don't Get It
17 other troops were killed over the last weekend, but only Amanpour mentioned them as far as I can see. I read it on Crooks and Liars. The big news is that 22 SEALs were killed. Has vanity gone this far that the average trooper is not mentioned?

US Army 2LT Jered W Ewy, 33, Edmond, OK
US Army SPC Augustus J Vicari, 22, Broken Arrow, OK
US Army SGT William B GrossPaniagua, 28, Daly City, CA
US Army PFC Brice M Scott, 22, Columbus, GA
US Marines SSG Leon H Lucas Jr, 32, Wilson, NC
US Marines Sgt Patrick R Dolphin, 29, Moscow, PA
US Marines Sgt Dennis E Kancler, 26, Brecksville, OH
US Marines Sgt Christopher M Wrinkle, 29, Dallastown, PA
US Army SSG Kirk A Owen, 37, Sapulpa, OK
US Army SPC Barun Rai, 24, Silver Spring, MD
US Army PFC Cody G Baker, 19, Holton, KS
US Army PFC Gil I Morales Del Valle, 21, Jacksonville, FL
US Army CPT Waid C Ramsey, 41, Red Bay, AL
US Army SGT Anthony Del Mar Peterson, 24, Chelsea, OK
US Army SPC Jinsu Lee, 34, Chatsworth, CA
US Marines Sgt Daniel D Gurr, 21, Vernal, UT
US Army SPC Mark J Downer, 23, Warner Robins, GA

Regarding another incident, I also didn't see the faces of these people:

How soon we forget.

1. I was thinking that when I kept hearing about the SEALS. Made
me sad, as though the others who have lost their lives/loved ones don't count? :(

2. i don't get it either-
it's a tragedy no matter how you look at it.

Even if one person died, we should all be as disturbed as the SEALS heli going down.
so sad.

8. That's AWFUL! Imagine how that makes the families of these soldiers feel. :(
It's not bad enough their loved one has died, they get to be ignored by the Gov. and media. Pretty much SUCKS....BIG TIME.

They don't want people to know how bad things really are....at the expense of the families.

9. There's a hugh bias concerning multiple deaths in a single incident...
600 people dying in a single plane crash during the year = huge story.
30,000+ people dying in automobiles during the year = slight mention in passing.

11. It has something to do with branding, too.
SEAL is a recognizable brand in the consciousness of the American consumer of media. You know, they killed Bin Laden, and "they rock," according to Katie Couric.

13. All of th losses are sad....what is sick though
Is that I'm on a Mom chat site and the RW women there are all talking about how "convenient" it was that SEALS were killed and SEALS were the ones who got Bin Laden, so they are all about saying that the Obama administration killed them all. Sigh. Idiots.

15. It's because of the recent news surrounding the Seals and Osama bin Laden.
The mainstream media has always been sensationalist when it comes to this sort of thing, but now they are being run by people who have the attention span of 9 year-olds, so they have to point at anything that excites them for more than 5 minutes.
