Texas Gov. Rick Perry doesn't disappoint crowd of 25,000-plus
Looks like the fundies are going all Emo

Notice that how the angle of the picture is taken you can't see much besides the few people up front and the upper bleachers are all empty. May not of had the turnout they expected. And the poor girl in the lower right corner looks like she is saying,"What the fuck did I get into here".

3. This from Wikipedia - Rick Perry
Edited on Sat Aug-06-11 05:26 PM by IndianaJoe
"In 2006, in what was described as a "God and country" sermon at the Cornerstone church in San Antonio, attended by Perry and other mostly Republican candidates, the Rev. John Hagee stated, "If you live your life and don't confess your sins to God Almighty through the authority of Christ and His blood, I'm going to say this very plainly, you're going straight to hell with a nonstop ticket." Perry was asked if he agreed with those comments and said, "It is my faith, and I'm a believer of that." Perry went on to say that there was nothing in the sermon that he took exception with. In May 2011, at a meeting in East Texas with business leaders, Perry stated that at age 27, he felt "called to the ministry"."

8. If you are going to put your arms up to receive 'something'....
shouldn't your palms be up. Try it out for yourself. Try a palm forward position, that feels like pushing away. Then a palms up position, that feels like receiving position. Completely different feeling, and this is something that should be familiar to a christian.

17. I think it is more of an elevation of the hand into the celestial level
regardless of hand position. Like raising your hand in school...they are waiting for got to answer their prayers.

Good observation! That is a good question! Hands out or palms up? Maybe there is some subconscious influence going on.

11. We're going over a cliff.
There's violence and threats of violence everywhere. The poor are cooked; the middle class is no longer making it, and Fox and the Kochs have overreached, while our president has worshipped at the altar of compromise, instead of at the one of leadership.

The racial violence in Wisconsin against whites is telling, and real, and should not be dismissed here on DU. There are reasons for it, but that violence is real, and frightening (funny that it happened in Wisconsin just as the recall elections are taking place, however). Over at FReepdom, they are excusing what happened in Norway, claiming it's OK because those kids were socialist pawns *shudder*.

The governor of Texas is trying to be Jim Jones, but then run for office. War kills, and killed many Americans today. The "Tea Party" continues its efforts to undermine our nation, and the coming congressional "supercommittee" will not raise a dime from the Kochs, but will likely gut the social safety net, while a few lone voices protest in what is left of the Democratic Party.

I've been around for a while, and am not given to hyperbole, but these are definitely scary times.

and growing. Your analogy is right on track IMO, "The governor of Texas is trying to be Jim Jones, but then run for office."

43. I don't understand the racial violence in Wisconsin. This is the time we should be
pulling together. Are they blaming the white people for all of the problems. Watching congress recently and all the white guys one could gather that rather quickly IMO.

25. Amazing how the shots at RW events are always so tight. No wide angle lenses being sold?
Makes it real easy for any assclown to claim a photo is really a tiny part of a crowd of bazillions.

Whatever the estimate of crowd size, the purpose of pics/video is to support that estimate.

That's not the case here, MSNBComcast!

30. The (initial) pic on the Dallas Morning News
had a close up shot of 3 women...one looking of Hispanic descent, one white, and the third was AA. Scouring the background of the picture, I didn't see one other non-white person...I figure they planted the non-white forefront women for a faux look of diversity.
