Rush Limbaugh really, really crossed the line today
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 05:12 PM by LuckyTheDog

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_121510/content/01125107.guest.html

Pelosi and Reid couldn't care a whit about the country. Do you really want somebody like that? They don't care about it. They care about themselves and their own power and the country be damned, and that's one of the problems that we have in coming up with counterweights to 'em. Some people say, "You need fire to fight fire." They don't care a whit about the country. They care about their party, and they care about their power and they care about their buddies and all, but they don't care about the country. The Constitution's an obstacle to them.

...

It could well be, ladies and gentlemen, that we're fighting the wrong enemy in the Middle East. Maybe the real terrorists that we face are on Capitol Hill. I mean, really, who's doing as good a job to undermine what this country stands for as the terrorists? Dingy Harry, Nancy Pelosi. I mean, look, if they call us "hostage takers" and "gangsters," then why can't we call them what they are? They are terrorists.

...

Why would a president of the United States want to purposefully weaken US national security? That's the question. And it's a question a lot of people don't even want to confront, don't even want to admit, they can't conceive that such a thing could ever happen.

...

Why would Obama want to weaken the national security of the United States? Why would he want to weaken the national defense of the United States? Simple: Consistency. Why change now?

He's trying to incite violence. There is no doubt.

Call your local affiliates. We need local broadcasters to know that we notice this kind of thing and do not approve.

13. What ever the Republicans accuse non Republicans of doing
that is bad - if you look closely, is what the Republicans are doing or planing on doing.

Who gets accused of not supporting Vets, compared to who won't fund vets?
Who waves the bloody shirt of death panels, compared to who institutes death panels?

They tell us exactly what dirty deeds they are doing and planing to do, day in and day out, but the the dim Dems and MSM still are too ovine to notice.

That list of comparisons could go on for pages.

I also think his show is featured on Armed Forces Radio still.

35. This is also why Rush calls Obama the racist ...
Rush, Beck, the right wing ... do so as a DEFENSE.

If they scream racism FIRST, it is harder to attack them for being racists. Its a version of the Southern Strategy. Its not blacks that are under attack, its whites.

More projection.

When one asserts -- without proof -- that the president is actively undermining U.S. national security and refers to elected officials as the "enemy," that reaches a pretty high level of irresponsibility.

He actually said that we are fighting "the wrong enemy" in the Middle East and that the Democrats are the real enemy. In doing so, he makes a very thinly veiled call for the death of Pelosi and Reid.

22. "High level of irresponsibility" is Limbaugh's stock in trade.
Given that he is one of the primary actors in the coarsening and dumbing-down of political discourse in the country, this doesn't strike me as at all unusual.

Is there danger here? Sure. One of his feeble-minded fans could go off the deep end and start a murderous rampage over a delinquent parking ticket or his boss telling him to get to work on time.

But as far as crossing the line goes? Limbaugh left that line behind years ago and hasn't sighted it since.

43. He needs to be loved by everyone, and he needs the triumph of overcoming the great divide
For someone who constantly extols the virtue of pragmatism, he gets locked up into grandiose exercises of pure folly to prove the possibility of something that most non-imbeciles realize is unachievable.

Real pragmatism would be to cross the Rubicon and call certain people out for what they are: devoid of ANY value or decency. It's okay to despise and deride some people.

He's got 1st Amendment rights, yet he's pushing it, imho. "purposefully weaken US national security" ? That's an accusation of treason. ~ pinto

... When he says Reid and Pelosi are "the real terrorists," he is siding with al Qaeda against the elected representatives of the American people. That statement also is a very thinly veiled edict calling on one of his minions to do something about those "enemies." He wants somebody to do the dirty work that he can't openly call for.

He wants them dead.

25. Rush Limbaugh blatantly lies each and every day
causing upset and division in this country. I was taught as little girl that lies are forbidden and one will be punished for telling lies. Why is there no consequences for all the lying by the Republicans and all of those who supports them who also seem to lie and make up stories that distract from the real issues and the problem solving that our government is supposed to be dealing with. How can we tell children not to lie, that lying is wrong unless adults don't lie. Mrs. Palin lie all the time, Glenn Beck lie all the time. Rush Limbaugh lie all the time and that FOX News lie all the time. Why is lying ok today. If educated, so called respected politicians lie, how can we teach out children that lying is wrong. Lying and fabrication of story, has been dividing this country and Republicans are worst at it. They don't seem to care if the country is divided by these lies. No one seems to point this out in news. I guess lying is ok if no one calls you out on it or ignores it. This is sad situation. I tell my children that they must not lie and they throw back at me all these famous, educated, powerful people always lie, so why shouldn't they to get what they want. This is what they are learning. If a President can lie or a Senator, or a Congressperson, then why can't I..........look how far they've gotten by lying my children tell me. I still say no lies, but 12 year olds don't listen to wise mother, they emulate unwise lying politician. I'm afraid It is a battle I will not win. When Sarah Palin lies, my daughter say "see mama".......I still say it is wrong. There should be rule on TV that only fact can be spoken but I guess I just dream cause they say free speech. Now, so do my daughters. It makes me very sad. Mr. Limbaugh show should be cancel, he's a bad man and he wants trouble in this country I believe he wants physical violent trouble. So sad. I have no answers, but I am good mother and wish the lying stop.

It is important to point this stuff out. Ignoring it will not make it go away.

What can I do about it? Well, I did have a long conversation with the program manager of the station. In my thread, I urged others to call their affiliates as well.

I suppose you will say that I wasted my time on the phone and with this thread. But I think it's better to light a candle rather than just curse the darkness.

48. The year before the civil war
and chiefly in the South people started calling for violence and protection from the nasty Feds.

After Lincoln was elected in 1860 it moved beyond coming back.

Remember in 1860 we had a few states go see ya... and then came Fort Sumpter.

Here a good chronology that strangely, as usual, does not include the year before... but the trends were there.

http://www.civilwarhome.com/timeline.

The trends started in the Great Compromise, but that is another thread.

We are at the point where language is becoming really shril, and we even had one governor threaten secession... and he got reelected. (Good Hair Perry of Texas)

. . . but the radio station owners who broadcast his show agree with him, and want to puish his warped, racist and neanderthal point of view. His sponsors are pretty much the same. Beck lost dozens of sponsors and even got Rupert Murdoch mad at him. But he's still on the airwaves daily chirping for the implementation of a fascist theocracy and the wisdom of investing at Goldline. I'm skeptical if trying to get Limbaugh off the air by petitioning his benefactors would have any effect.

BillO was shocked--SHOCKED!--I tell ya, to learn that Tiller had been gunned down.

He called him "Tiller, the Baby Killer" over 200 times.

"Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest," says Henry II. And when Thomas a Beckett lies a-bleeding, Henry disavows any responsibility.

Plausible deniability is an ancient concept.
