Because I just don't see Obama "fighting" for anything - except fighting to bend over backwards to give the R's everything they want in the name of "compromise".

24. : ) that would be good news for dems and Obama. Personally I am disgusted
by the way he rolled over and gave the tea party a victory on this, especially a victory that is going to screw the "recovery" and hurt so many not-rich Americans.

Hubby and I are wondering whether we will remain employed - he because the gov contracts his firm works on only have funding til Oct, and me because the economy sucks so fewer people are buying the language learning software the company i work for makes. And with all the govt cuts I can easily imagine our govt contracts drying up as well.

But hey - I guess Obama knows what he is doing giving in to demands to extend the bush tax breaks to the rich, and passing "health insurance reform" that is a huge giveaway to insurance companies instead of passing Health CARE reform which might have included single payer in the mix and had a CHANCE of bringing down costs.

but then again - what do I know.

Not saying this is the case here but there will be polls that show the exact opposite on the same subject, so take it all with a very large grain of salt.

And, I bet we're more representative of the Democratic activist base -- you know, the ones who actually knock doors for the Party (or used to) -- than the self-identifying "liberals" that Gallup interviews.

39. I hope you change your mind or this country is going to be f****d by the ReThugs.
We old people depend on people like you...don't let us down. I think Obama failed us many times too but look what he has to work with...those damn tea baggers and a majority of thugs in the house, before that a congress that filibustered everything! Plus a party that has nothing but contempt and is unpatriotic enough to actively work on destroying the president. Hard to get anything don with a group like that. He's not a magician but I repeat...he has made many mistakes trying to be Mr. nice guy and a compromiser.

I think if he wins re-election he'll be more liberal as he won't have to depend on wall street etc. to finance another election.

31. The poll is either phony or else there are people being polled that
are faux-liberal Democrats.

No one ever polls me by phone except RW push polls.

I have been a Democrat in voting all my life and always vote.

This poll result doesn't mesh with my opinion nor most of the liberal Democrats I know.

The polling firms are every bit as compromised as the debt rating agencies like Standard and Poor, and Moody's. One of the two -- can't recall -- a major ownership is Berkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffet).

Why weren't the debt rating agencies prosecuted over grotesquely understating the risk of derivative ("synthetic") securities where there is not a rational nor empirical scientific method to value nor assess risk?

Yet they are offering opinions not about the national debt of the USA now?

36. CNN ORC poll
Obama's overall approval rating holds steady at 45 percent, but his support among liberals, at 71 percent, remains at a record low and more than half of all Democrats say he gave up too much in the debt ceiling deal. Just one-third of Republicans polled said their party's leaders gave up too much in the agreement.
